The Official "Ask an Atheist" Thread.

Wednesday was International Ask an Atheist/ Non Theist Day so I'd like to extend that day into a thread, which should be fun.

Anyway, if there are some resident theists here, feel free to ask a non-theist a question, any question you want hopefully involving philosophy, but whatever you may please. Also, Please keep in mind that I won't answer all the questions, I'd like to have other non-theist pitch in too, and finally, keep in mind that not every single non-theist is an Atheist, some are Agnostic (like myself), Naturalists, etc.

How can an atheist (with "-theist" at the end of it) be associated with a "non-theist"?

Also, will I ever find true happiness at the bottom of a bottle?

Oh oh!!! and will Emma Stone ever go out with me!?

hmm. ive always wondered why atheist spend so much time and energy putting down and denouncing religions like christianity when they don't believe in them in the first place.

why bother?

Actually, that reminds me of another question I have. why do most atheists bash on religious people for bashing on other religions? What's the difference?

Another thing, I feel like the Tang we get here as consumers isn't as good as the kind astronauts get. Where can I get their brand of Tang?

1. Non theism is just basically a group that all people who reject deities are placed in. Atheism is the rejection of deities so to me, Atheism is just your basic non-theist. You can branch out to agnostic atheist or agnostic theist, and a whole bunch of other non-theistic beliefs and philosophies. Think of non theism as the the subject on a paper and Atheism as a bullet point under that subject, if that makes sense.

2. As a non drinker, I don't believe drinking will ever lead to happiness, coming from a family of alcoholics, my Dad and my brother, I saw firsthand how the stuff can destroy people's lives, so I stray away from the stuff, but I think if you drink moderately and know your limits, you can be happy, just my two cents :hatsoff:

Alot of Atheists seem like crusaders and that's pretty sad, but to me, they're no different from the Christians who stop you in the parking lot of Walmart or ring your doorbell and try to preach their faith to you and make you feel guilty when you reject Christ and his ways. As an agnostic, I try to remain neutral and don't really put down people of other religions just based on the fact that I was Catholic for a large portion of my life and I grew up in a Catholic family so I try to avoid that. You Might want to have a true Atheist answer this question for you, as I am Agnostic.

NASA actually has a store in Houston where you can purchase this, BUT you have to be an Astronaut or an Astrophysicist. :D

I think we have our first 2 top questions, so Atheists, tackle these questions while I sleep. I expect to see some great and convincing answers when I wake up.

Night y'all it's 3 and I'm off to bed :hatsoff:

You're a damned good man, Sir jizz! I like this attitude you have. :hatsoff:

The true dyed in the wool atheists, I mean the real mean, cruel and nasty sons of guns can be found over in the CPUSA.org (that's communist party usa) forums where it is absolutely positively forbidden to post anything that supports any faith whatsoever . . at least it was this way when last observed about 2 - 3 years ago, I doubt things have changed much since. Just browsing that site gave me the chills as they are the real deal over there!

I suppose that you could say I'm very much libertarian on most issues . . . To each his or her own so long as you're not trying to impose upon the will, nor causing physical or mental harm of others, fair enough?

In closing, I need a glass of Tang to wash down my . . . :p-

It's quite liberating to understand and accept that the afterlife is a total farce. The product of human imagination and longing. :2 cents:

What if you're wrong?

Do you guys really live in foxholes? :dunno: Oh and if aliens finally make contact will you worship them?
