The hypocrisy of US politicians never ceases to amaze me...

Did the Founder's intend the Senate to be the most powerful body in gov't? I don't think so.

It just better be a worthy bill. A bill without a public option = no mechanism for cost control in the bill. Without a public option, it will only be a matter of time, probably a decade, when rates will be too high for people to afford. People as in the Upper Middle Class. The american aristocratic family can always flee the country at some point and go to Europe for healthcare. The Middle Class American and below can't do that.

There's nothing wrong with Reconciliation. It's the only way to keep the Senate in check, basically.

You're either an obstructionist or stupid if you would hold up something 98 pct. necessary for 2 pct. of what you don't like.

Exactly. We all voted for Dems to run gov't. If the GOP would step aside instead of carrying on some false sense of entitlement-to-solution than this wouldn't be an issue.

We rejected GOP ideas in 2006 and 2008. It's time for the Dems to call the shots. Isn't it insane that a GOP Rep or Senator actually thinks he or she is entitled to set legislation? :rolleyes: No, dummy. Step aside, vote no and hope nothing works out....that's the only move you have. Or go along with the Dems and represent "bipartisanship."

Some of you you either didn't read the article or missed the point entirely....

There was an article to be read in that link? C/S did you even click on the link yourself?

:rofl::thumbsup:

HM, the point is this: How can these "leaders" say how anti-democratic and against the Constitution using this kind of vote was when the Republicans talked about doing it in 2005, but then try to use the same tool to ram a bill through that the system is set up to stop (and the "people" don't want). :2 cents:

It's a bunch of clips from Dems from 5 years ago :dunno: My answer is the same. The Nuke Option is needed to prevent the Senate from taking over the Gov't. :dunno:

CS, in case you are unaware...we, like, have major problems facing our nation. We need action! Not filibusters. :rolleyes:

Besides, SCOTUS pretty much went nuclear with the whole let-corps-have-unlimited-financial-power-on-elections thing recently.

We need to remove roadblocks from the legislative process. If the Dems pass their views into legislation, I believe our country will return to strength. If the Dems pass their legislation and it fails...than Repubs will get elected, do their own things and nothing really will matter at that point :dunno:

The system was set up back in the 18th century. Times have changed. Populations have changed.

Make no mistake CS. Obama won with a significant majority in popular vote and electoral vote. The people have voted!

(All he and the Dems need to do is GET SHIT DONE :mad:)

As much as I hate hypocrisy, particularly when liberal hypocrisy gets overlooked but conservative hypocrisy is always pointed out (I hate double standards since they are the biggest kind of hypocrisy there is), it is not a crime as in nobody's gone to jail for being a hypocrite, a hipocrite may go to jail for something that is related but not because of hypocrisy itself.

True, but Congress' approval rating is now 10%, and Obama's in around 40% (according to this week's Rassmusen poll). Apparently, even a lot of people who voted for them aren't very happy with what they are trying to do right now.:2 cents:

So when the Democrats discussing using a perfectly legal Congressional tool to pass legislation that the majority of Americans want, that is somehow hypocritical and un-American? Hmmmm. I guess you were just as outraged when the Republicans repeatedly used reconciliation to pass legislation while Bush was president. Because if you are not outraged, that would make you just a wee bit... hypocritical.

If the Democrats try to use Reconciliation to ram through the health care bill, is this the most duplicitous action you've ever heard of in US politics?

The democrats will use reconciliation to shove as much of their healthcare imposition down our throats as possible and they will do so recognizing that they are setting the foundation for the very healthcare apparatus that they cannot pass today.

Do we really want the party of global population reduction advocacy to domineer our heath care apparatus ? This is just insane !

and what happened to all of the bitching over the EVIL and greedy 7% profit insurance companies ? :crickets:

They're not happy for a number of reasons...primarily because they don't seem to be getting done what the majority elected them to.

Is that really what everything comes back to for Democrats? :cool:

BTW, as a lot of us have said in different debates, there are many items people would like to see in a health care "reform" bill, most of them common sense and tried in states... but most Americans area AGAINST this current bill I've nicknamed Moby Dick... it's very large, made of white paper, and no one has seen it in person :)

Why are you sooo into abortion (and falsely smearing the Dems and Obama about it) all of a sudden? I thought you were a fiscal conservative all this time. You're going evangelical and it's really weird...fwiw. To answer this. Yes, we need REAL healthcare reform. Something is better than nothing, since nothing means more bankruptcies and more rich Orange County CA conservatives giving up on healthcare because the premiums will become a second, higher mortgage for the Upper Middles. Keeping healthcare affordable for the Upper Middles means the Middle and Lower will be able to afford healthcare.

Nothing. Did you catch the Wellpoint stuff yesterday? I'm sure you did. If not, here it is...:hatsoff:
http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2010/02/21/3930112-diving-into-wellpoints-health-insurance-profits

"The CEO of WellPoint Inc., the nation's largest health insurer, is being called before Congress this week to defend planned rate hikes of as much as 39 percent for some customers even as the company made billions last year."
:mad::mad::mad::crash::fight:

We need to drop the hammer on these douchbag for obscene profiteers and the companies they represent.

NO PROFIT IN HEALTHCARE! People are not walking bundles of cash!!!!!
