The Beatles

Don't know about you but I'm pretty stoked for The Beatles Rockband. In that spirit, what's your favorite Beatles song?

If you can't narrow it down to a song, cite your favorite album if you'd like.

On a related topic, yesterday at Rasputin Music I found a metal tribute to The Beatles. It has a whole bunch of artists (like Lemmy, Alice Cooper, Billy Gibbons, Billy Idol, CC Deville, Steve Vai, Duff McKagan, Mickey Dee, Steve Stevens, Blasko, Yngwie Malmsteen, Vivian Campbell, Steve Lukather, and Kip Winger) doing metal covers of Beatles' songs. It's fucking awesome!

That's awesome. I'm going to look that up right now.

And it leads to a pretty interesting follow-up question. What's your favorite cover version of a Beatles song?

One of my favorites is Maxwell's Silver Hammer...demented like me!

Not sure of my favorite cover...though I know it was NOT Matthew Brodrick in Ferris Bueller...though the rest of the movie was great.

Banned?
Not a huge Beatles fan to be honest. I like them, just don't think I'd ever sit down and listen to an album.

I Want You (She's So Heavy) has one of my favourite riffs of all time though, so that gets my vote.

I was impressed at how many of the girls at College know and move along to the Beatles songs. This after almost 40 years. Shows how popular and how good their music was. They had 'silly little love songs', as John Lennon once said, but they were popular. Their chords also, were no joke.

The Beatles employed some unusual chord structures, a break from the usual E A B of rock.

That's only if you're in the key of E major. I-IV-V is technically what it is, and that's the same progression in any major key. ;)

Favourite song, I always think it depends on the mood, time of day, week or year, and what been going on in my life, etc.

Fool on the hill
Day Tripper
Don't let me down
Revolution
I'm only sleeping
Here there and everywhere
Girl
