:*****: You fuckers must be bored. I know I am after going through this thread.
As for the topic at hand...I've seen many, many people (always Republican) bring up many times, "You need an ID for this, why not that?" or "Why didn't they just keep all those court documents?" or "They should've have changed that right away...!" etc., etc, ad nauseum. The thing is, they're not necessarily wrong - but they are entirely beside the point. None of that stands behind the Republican lawmakers' reasoning for doing this. It's voter disenfranchising, plain and simple. It's been admitted publicly by different Republicans. Voter fraud (the onus, by the way BC, is always on proving the existence of something - not the reverse. Ergo, the claim that voter fraud exists significantly must be proven, not disproven) a barely subtle bullshit excuse. Everybody who isn't lying to themselves knows it.
Republicans are making themselves irrelevant and the faster the better - for all Americans, including the half that doesn't know it. With luck, another party will step up in its stead - I'm crossing my fingers for Libertarians. While I don't agree with their entire platform, I agree with it more than the Democratic or Republican platforms, and at any rate they'd likely be a real fiscal counterweight to the Democrats (unlike the Republicans, whose 'fiscal restraint' can only be found in history books).
Let the religious right sputter their wheels as an irrelevant third party. If we're lucky they'll be completely gone in a few generations, but that's been predicted before and didn't pan out.
