Terry Bradshaw Admits: I Did 'Roids!

I would be shocked if someone really seriously tried to say they didn't use whatever was around that would give them an edge.

I wonder if the steroids back then were as strong as they are today. Like most drugs, today's versions are much more refined and powerful.

I think they probably were.Lyle Alzado who was from Bradshaws era was using them as well and later died from it or at least many including him think they were responsible.

They werent illegal when he did them.

I wonder if Congress will demand a Senate hearing & subsequent federal investigation into the Pittsburgh Steelers be conducted - lol

Lyle Alzado thinks he died from steroid use? Wow. When did they interview him? During his funeral?

I would not be surprised to find out how many players back then did Steroids (different time, different mind set of why to use them). Still as a Steelers fan, that sucks to hear.

Lyell Alzado did do an interview shortly before he died, blaming his decline in health to the use of steroids (I think is it was in People magazine)

He was very ill for a while before he died.I did put up a link when I mentioned him. Here is the story from the link.

"Steroids
Alzado is probably most remembered today for being one of the first major U.S. sports figures to admit using steroids. In the last years of his life, as he battled against the brain tumor that eventually caused his death at the age of 43, Alzado asserted that his steroid abuse directly led to his fatal illness, but his physician stated it could not possibly be true. According to some reports, Alzado was using natural growth hormone, harvested from human corpses, as opposed to synthetic growth hormones. However, shortly before his death, Alzado recounted his steroid abuse in an article in Sports Illustrated. He said:

“ I started taking anabolic steroids in 1969 and never stopped. It was addicting, mentally addicting. Now I'm sick, and I'm scared. Ninety percent of the athletes I know are on the stuff. We're not born to be 300 lbs or jump 30ft. But all the time I was taking steroids, I knew they were making me play better. I became very violent on the field and off it. I did things only crazy people do. Once a guy sideswiped my car and I beat the hell out of him. Now look at me. My hair's gone, I wobble when I walk and have to hold on to someone for support, and I have trouble remembering things. My last wish? That no one else ever dies this way."[2] ”

"Alzado is buried at River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon[3] "

So at least he thought it was the roids although his doctor told him it wasn't.I just remembered his claims and how bad he looked on TV as opposed to when he was whacking people for the Raiders.

He sure did choose his words carefully. When he said that he didn't use the steroids to get stronger, only to speed up healing from injuries, he is contradicting himself. When you do sport specific training, or even just a regular workout you are purposely putting your body through enough stress that you injure yourself. Your body will rebuild the injured muscle tissue bigger and stronger as a natural defense against injury.

So, by speeding up healing time you are giving yourself more opportunity to reinjure your body and get bigger and stronger.

What a douche, all steroid users take it to speed healing.

Greg Valentino: a good example of how addicting steroids supposedly are,

Football players from the 60s did steroids? What a shock.:1orglaugh

I almost bet the Oakland Raiders of that period probably had dispenser on the wall of their locker room to give them out. :D

I seriously doubt that. Not only did we NOT cheat, it was legal. It's been said before but back then, everyone was doing them and no one gave a fuck.

BTW:

STEELERS RULE!!!!:thefinger

My apologies, I was getting short on time when I posted earlier and I didn't click on your link. :hatsoff:

Back in the 70's steroids where looked at like a supplement. Probably how we look at Creatine today. At least he had the balls to admit using them and we didn't have to waste tax payers dollars. ex: Roger Clemens
