This is just disturbing. I know you all won't be surprised, or even shocked. "Same old story, same old story, same old song and dance", but the main reason I posted this, was because of the portion that talks about a deal. That's what appalls me the most. Business as usual, the worst you are, the easier you seem to have it. I know 16 years in prison, isn't exactly a cake walk, but it isn't enough. This problem with our criminal justice system HAS GOT TO STOP. This guy is vile, there is no doubt, but he's serving more time, then a lot of people that commit violent crimes with a gun. I don't think the minimum, mandatory sentence for armed robbery is 16 years, and that crime carries a high potential of murder, and often at least results in shootings, or injuries.

Instead of giving aid to every other country out there, lets build a few super max prisons, out in the desert, and start clearing the streets of all this trash.

While true, it's not really the point. Muslims have blown up school buses in Israel, using suicide bombers, and the Jews just love to rape pillage and plunder all over what they believe is their land. All organized religions suck, and if you believe, or have faith, you don't really need the building, or the man preaching in it. The point is, if they were this harsh with violent criminals, gang members, and other assorted vermin, maybe murder rates would drop, and gun violence would be reduced. I'm in favor of real life-long sentences without any parole possibility. Yes, it costs more than capital punishment but that's the price to pay for the few innocent lives that it would save, because when you put someone behind bars for the rest of his life, if it appears 2,3, 5, 10 or even 20 years later, you can still free him and pay him some well-deserved reparations fee. If he's been executed, there's nothing you can do, you can pay billions to his family as reparations, nothing will bring back their loved one.

And there's another good reason to favor life-behind bars without any parole to capital punishment : jihadis want nothing more than to die as martyrs. And martyrs are gonna be glorified, set an examples for other jihadis. On the other side, spending decades behind bars, treated like shit by other detainees and by prison guards, that's a life of shame, a life of humiliation, the worst thing that could happen to a jihadi.

If, and ONLY IF, you have DNA, and or video, witnesses, or a confession, no one should be on death row, for more then a year. Any current inmates on death row, would be on the "business as usual" way of doing things, and ANY new evidence, that can be brought forth exonerating an inmate on death row, should be expedited, and those for general population inmates, to follow that. Most inmates remain on death row, because they will flood the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits. Those will stop, and only legal matters pertaining to the crime, will be valid. In other words, you can't file a lawsuit because your cling fucking peaches were to cold, and caused you traumatic disorders. Also, any inmate, that kills another inmate, and video surveillance, and or credible witnesses see it, right to death row, express seat on the lightning. Which will be the main method of execution again. If you brutally rape, and murder a child, you DO NOT deserve to "go to sleep", nice and peaceful like.

You're mistaking Justice with vengeance. We're supposed to be civilised enough for our judicial system to be based on something more subtle than an eye for an eye.
The point of Justice is not to avenge the victims, to inflict the culprits the same suffering they inflicted to the victims.
The point is to deprive them for the freedom law-abiding citizen can enjoy for a certain amount of time according to the severity of their crime and to get them ready to reconnect with the life of any random law abiding citizen once they're set free.
To measure the efficiency of a judicial system, you shouldn't simply measure how many criminals you've sentenced but how many inmates you released didn't commit any crime after their release.

That's a very nice sentiment, and in theory, would be wonderful. BUT, too many people have gotten their freedom back, to soon, and go one to deprive others of the rights, and standards you believe they, as vile humans should get. Do you really think it's punishment to be sent to prison, for some of these animals it's home away from home. Most of them should be at hard labor, and quite frankly, if I had a loved one brutally murdered, under ANY circumstance, vengeance is EXACTLY what I want. I want his family to feel the horrible loss I do. If you want a civilized society, you need to clean A LOT of house, and most of that dirt isn't just gonna fall into line, and I for one, am fucking sick of it. You live by your ideals, and I'll live by mine. We will NEVER agree, ever, because in my opinion, it's far to late, to nudge to wheel s back on the road. If you want that world, you need a time machine, or to face cold hard facts.
