stainless steel grills

I need a gas grill, all the ones I found around here are SS. but what my friends are telling me is they are a bitch to keep clean. by clean I mean nywhere you touch it while cooking , you need to break out the zaino. anyone here have one, is this true?

Ive heard the same about SS appliances:dunno:

I don't know about that particularly, but my guess is that low end SS uses the same parts as cast, which means you'll spend more but have to replace the same heat shield, igniter, and grill surfaces. Prices have gone up a lot I think, and you don't get an empty tank with them anymore.

Stainless isnt that much harder to keep clean. Unless you want to keep the outside of it nice and shiny with some stainless cleaner. Most of all grills need the same parts cleaned anyways.

Stainless steel is the absolute easiest thing to keep clean. 99% of counter tops in restaurants are stainless steel for that very reason. I'm a chef, take my word for it.

You can also beat the crap out of stainless steel and it will hold up very well. It's a lot tougher than people realize.

In my opinion, go with stainless steel. The best thing to do is to clean it everytime you use it, that way it will never even get close to being dirty. Just keep a spray bottle full of sanitizer by your grill, spray it down when you're done cooking (after you've let it cool off of course) and then wipe it with a clean towel. Easy as pie.

This is the grill that I got my dad for Father's Day. (I split the cost with my mom, I'm not paying that much for a present)

I get teary-eyed everytime I go to my parents house and see it sitting there in the back yard. *Dreamy siiiiiiiigh* It's so beautiful. :crying:

its going out side, but im getting a cover for it . the only reason I ask is I dont want to spend 400 on something that takes more to clean, than it does to cook on.

chefchitown thats a sweet grill!

You could also go the route where you get a very cheap grill but never clean it. It doesn't look pretty after a while but I have seen some people that have had their grills forever and they still work. :1orglaugh

Mine is 5 y.o. and not very expensive. Second life because someone got rid of the same grill and I scrapped it. Some parts have been changed, but it doesn't pay after a while. Some key parts together are most of the cost. Grating, ignitor, heat shield burners are most of the cost new.

It's one of those things when it's cheap and dies, you can buy another new cheap one, but if it's expensive, it can nickle and dime you because you don't want to trash it.

its not that I want an expensive one, or not have to clean it. just wondering if SS is a pain in the ass to keep new looking:glugglug:

It's the complete opposite of a pain in the ass. So, I guess that would make it a...pleasure...in the...penis? :dunno:

after looking at all the stores around here, it gonna have to be SS. :(

thanks for all your helpful replies:hatsoff:

I think the opposite would be a pleasure in the mouth, since the mouth is the other end of the digestive system...however, there are those who might say that the opposite of "pain in the ass" is to go ahead and get some pleasure in the ass!
