spyware problem. Please Help!

i'm trying to help out my ******* here. he has something called SpyStriker on his cpu. i tried running windows in safe mode then running norton antivirus (although it is last years) and spysweeper. norton found nothing and spysweeper said it found them and deleted the spyware\adaware.

However, it seems to still be there. there are these annoying little icons that appear in the task bar and keep flashing. they wont stop and i have had no success in deleting them. when you click on them it takes you to some website and tries to start downloading some programs.

has anyone had this problem and do you know how to get rid of it?
any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Long answer: scan your system folders for a file that doesn´t belong there. In most cases, it´s a file that´s creating a new file each time you start your machine and the created file is responsible for the icons and crap. So deleting the file doesn´t help. You can try a google for the icons respectively the .exe or original file, chances are that it´s a known spy/malware and some sites are offering walkthroughs to remove the thing.

Short answer: reinstall your system, get a firewall/virus scanner and DO NOT user Internet Explorer.

check your startup up programs by running 'msconfig' and stopping the programs you don't recognise. its a short term solution.
whilst using 'msconfig' find the ones you don't recognise and typ them into google to find out what they are and how to delete them for ever.
this should do the trick.

you guys are awesome! thanks for your help and special thanks to
Aces&Jacks for the link! i just talked to my ******* and they want to charge over $100 to remove the problem!

I'm new to the freeones board, and I LOVE IT!

thanks again everyone!:glugglug:

I got several spyware cleaners for free off of Premium Link Upgrade you can check there and find a lot of free downloads. I've already downloaded programs like Ad-Aware SE Personal, Mircosoft AntiSpyWare, and Spybot Search and Destroy.

i have adaware and spybot. they weren't doing the trick for the problem i had. I talked to my *******. Aces&Jacks, thank you very much for that link. he said he paid $30 and downloaded the registered program and it took care of the problem. he was very thankful. they wanted to charge him $100 to remove it and another 40 or 50 for the new nortan antivirus!

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOo much!

i love this board. first time i join something like this, and besides all the nice porn, i like being able to talk about different topics and it was nice to ask for help and get such a quick response. EVERYONE here ROCKS! :glugglug:

Just a comment to Norton AntiVirus: it used to be good, but the recent versions seem to suck. There are better virus scanners out there, which are even cheaper than Norton. Premium Link Upgrade is a good one.

I agree Jackson, Norton is very poor these days. I've just bought McAfee, i'll see how I get on with it.
