Softcore vs. Hardcore

So I'm up late tonight and on Skin-a-max (cinemax) they have this "movie" called "Sex Games Cancun: Feature 04". As I was watching it I found myself thinking that the acting, directing, writing and cinematography seemed to be alot better then your average hardcore porn realesed by even the big name studios.

Is this just a special case? Or do the majority of softcore flickes have better quality in the categories mentioned above? And if so then why?

i don't understand softcore at all. people who want to watch a proper movie will stick to real movies (as both softcore and hardcore movies suck in that aspect), and people who want to watch other people fucking will stick to hardcore porn (as softcore porn sucks in that aspect). who is softcore exactly made for?

doesn't matter, quality isn't very good in both genres if you compare to real movie quality like films from David Lynch.

but if you just compare "pornographic" stuff.. i guess you have to watch films from the 70s up to the early 80s if you want to have quality. pornfilms, then. like "private teacher". you won't find anything similar in todays industry. today there is no time for a storyline, no time for dialogues, no time for "acting". just moneymaking. (don't come with overambitious artsy-porn like films from Michael Ninn or this "i wanna do romantic porn" Andrew Blake. Their films are allmost based on the same idea/vision and there is usually no storyline behind and bore the hell out of me cause there is absolutely no real feeling behind it. It's totally calculated.)

I'd pretty much agree with D-rock's take. I enjoy solo girl pics and movies more than your typical hardcore stuff. Just a matter of personal preference.
