That's not what they say.

They asked a Professor in Behavioral and Brain Science who has studied face recognition about that stereotype and her answer is that they look all the same to us because, since we don't lived among asians, our brains never acquired the "tools" to distinguish them. Because our brain is used to search for some details of someone's face (like eye colour) that would ditinguish that person from other folks but these aspects are irrelevant to distinguish asians.
That's also why caucasians like us find it difficult to evaluate the age of a black or asian person.

But I guess it's easier to pretend NPR said asians teams are racist. And it matches your talking points, how convenient.
