So, I'm pretty much a dumb ass for this...

All right, so I've been making a lot of things from the vegetables I've gotten out of my garden all summer (Salsa, pickles, canning of tomatoes), but lately I've decided to make pico de gallo, which I think is a great little addition to Mexican dishes.

But, in the midst of making this stuff, I minced up a fresh jalapeno pepper, which gives a bit of kick to the pico. Sadly, I didn't wash my hands immediately after mincing this up.

Shortly after lunch, my lips began to tingle. Then, I had this awful burning sensation all around the outside of my nose. This was followed by a really nice burning in the corners of my eyes, and so I spent the afternoon feeling like I'd been pepper sprayed.

Ahh.... memories of the police academy. :)

Not fond memories, mind you, but memories nonetheless. At least the burning has stopped.
