To be clear, I'm talking about America's emergency phone number 911, not the day 9/11. I believe in the U.K. the emergency number is 011.
Do you believe it is necessary for 911 phone tapes to be played for the general public to hear?
Do we need to hear people's frantic dialogue, screaming, ******? Is it somehow useful? Remember when all a reporter had to do was report the news? Video footage, ok. Pictures, ok. Eyewitness statements, ok. Is that not enough? Do we need further proof that something happened - at the expense of the worst moments of someone's life played for all to hear? (are you not entertained?)
I'm not the most sensitive person around, but it seems really distasteful and disrespectful to the people involved. It shows a lack of class.
Do you think they are just trying to make their news show more interesting or enticing...entertaining? It appears to me as gratuitous shock value. Maybe it's because we live in this world of 'reality' shows, etc. being more popular than fiction, so they figure people want to hear it. I don't know.
Am I overlooking something here?
