Should Smiley-only posts/replies NOT count towards post count totals?

It seems to me that if posts made in 'the member above me', style-threads are not counted towards post count totals as they artificially inflate post totals, then Smiley-only replies and posts should also NOT count towards post totals.

What do y'awl think?

In all seriousness, I think this is a good idea. If they can't be removed/prevented from post count, why not make it necessary to have at least 10 characters (or something) in every post?

Counting / not counting the post against the posting total individually is probably difficult or impossible to do with the forum software. However, I wouldn't mind if there would be a script that would periodically go through all new posts and delete all the bumps, smiley-only posts and posts with only three alphabetic characters. That could be run once per week or something like that. The only sections that it wouldn't touch should be those that already don't count against the post count total (that is, the post games section currently).

Yes, I am serious. Let's see if the FO team members will react to this.
