It's a wild animal for fuck's sake. I don't care how well you train it or how emotionally close to it you feel. If it can kill you, it will. It does not feel anything towards humans. We are either prey or just another animal encroaching into its territory. You can't fault the animal for behaving like one. Get over it. If you're going to be a trainer, you know the risks going in. This isn't a big surprise. Fuck, it even has killer in its name. Who didn't see this coming?

I don't blame the trainer. I blame the animal and SeaWorld Management for not retiring/putting out to pasture an animal with a history of aggression.

SeaWorld is useful to our understanding of the Ocean. The animals are protected, feed, and treated well, by and large. SeaWorld should still go on and we should still interact with these animals.

Now, the Circus, on the hand....is nothing more than animal abuse for cheap thrills. The Circus needs to go away.:thumbsup:

No they should not continue. But not for concerns over the trainers. I don't think it is right to have wild animals confined their whole life so they can do tricks for dumbasses.

In a related matter, I highly recommend the recent documentary "The Cove" - about the dolphin trade.

You'll never think of that old TV show "Flipper" in quite the same way after you see it (and I mean that in more than the most obvious way)....

I want to see it, but I've heard enough to make me think it's best I don't. I hear it's pretty fucking brutal. Seeing whales harpooned on Whale Wars was enough to fuck me up for a bit.

Taking rare animals and confining them and making them live unnatural lives so they can do tricks for the purpose of entertainment seems like a colossal waste of resources, is generally stupid, and doesn‘t make any environmental or ecological sense.
