Before you click on this, realize that I'm pretty much a bleeding heart liberal. This even had me kind of uncomfortable at times. It starts out all fine and good and then immediately heads south.

I think it's OK for someone to post this video on the internet for like minded individuals to share, but I'm not so sure this should be in our schools.

According to one of my friends who is a teacher, this is being promoted as educational classroom material.

Caution: A bit lenghty.

I think it could have been allot more diplomatic and less barbed and spiteful, what she is saying for the most part is true, but the antagonistic tone does not aid her cause.

Another example of why home schooling is a good idea.
this isnt about how stuffs made, its about teaching white kids to feel guilty about everything
bad in the world, even training them to think whats bad.
the white devil complex.
Its brainwashing.
but, youre a bleeding heart liberal, arntcha proud?

Saw this video last night on Beck.....fucking scary....how something like this is allowed into schools is beyond me. I don't think any spin, right or left, should be presented to impressionable youth....the brand of indoctrination is serious, and things like this mistake laden video do nothing to help the cause of those who would further their own lie filled agenda. Schools are no place for this kind of garbage.

It is a simple explanation that is long overdue. The corporation leaders know this. Government know this. Yet, as simple as this is laid out, they don't want to pay attention.

The problem is not this video, it is that this growth pattern has been allowed to carry on for generation after generation.

When I was a little boy, I instinctively did not question why everyone drove around in smelly cars, as I knew nothing would be done about it.

The guilt is that I did nothing about it when I grew up.

I am posting this from another thread. I don't know where it is on this board.

I have it bookmarked. This is a speech from a young girl at the UN.

What ever became of "Acid Rain" ?

My answer to our energy requirements :NUKES NUKES NOOKS !

It's the only clean choice, just ask the French who are 85 - 90 % Nuke resourced.

What about the "nuclear waste" you might ask (?)
The rods are reprocessed on site and whatever "waste" that is remaining post reprocess is virtually nil . I have read reports from Lawrence Livermore National Lab that maintain that, the total lifetime average amount of reprocessed nuclear waste for a family of four lifetime would fit in a shoebox.
At least we know that it's not 8 semi trailers per person lifetime. :D

Teaching people the idea that being a consumer is bad is a terrible idea for our economy. Are some of the things in the video true? Sure. But some of them are exaggerations and the video itself is very sensational.

If people aren't spending money, you can't make money. It's simple economics.

^ yeah man, train them to be little mega consumers from day 1, then tell them about the evils of being a consumer.
fuck with their little heads, mix em up, confuse them, anything to get the point across and train them well.
Whats scary is that today many schools don't teach, they just try to brainwash students into thinking in a very particular, ideaologic way.
Its been working well.

You didn't watch the same video I did. The video teaches that being a "throw-away" consumer is a bad idea. I didn't see anywhere in the video that said people shouldn't spend money. The idea of the video was that we shouldn't be continuously wasting resources in the linear economic model that was displayed.

I'm sure that the ever-faithful protectors of the status quo will climb on me like ants on a dung hill but I thought, at least from a content standpoint, the video was right on the mark. Perhaps the "scare" aspect was a bit over the top for children of a certain age group (what was the age group that was shown this video by the way?) and I was not at all enamored with the part that tried to get us all to believe that we are miserable and unhappy under the present system (that is a matter of conjecture, not fact), but what else exactly that was presented in the video was untrue? Are we not a consumer-driven disposable-oriented society that is devouring the earth's resources at an alarming and unsustainable rate? Have we not created the linear dynamic economic model that was illustrated that is bound to consume itself eventually? Would it not be a good idea to try to evolve into a more sustainable economic culture that would focus on conservation of resources and closed-loop production rather than the "throw-away" society we have today?

How are these ideas somehow bad?

Banned?
Seen the video before, thought it was good. Infact, when it first started getting attention on the internet, everyone thought it was a good thing.

if you want comedy, go look for glen beck's reaction to this. he's just ridiculous, even for fox.

(just my opinion)

Glen Beck is freaking ridiculous. When you have to warn your audience to not do anything hasty or to become violent, then yes, you're too sensational. And yes, Glen Beck has had to do that before.

I would have pulled my kids out of school over this. The way she described "this administration" was clearly biased and the way she trashed corporate America was aimed at indoctrinating children.

One question. What grades was this hunk of crap propaganda aimed at brainwashing?
