Samsung is having to recall the replacements from the original recall of the Note7 - KABOOM!

Just when it seemed that Samsung was producing products that rivaled Apple when it came to design, function and reliability, they stub their toes by putting out not one, but two series of exploding Note 7 products... and washing machines that shake themselves to death. They're letting Timmy Cook off the hook for his inability to recapture the power and the glory that Steve Jobs brought to Apple. By allowing him to say, "at least my boring stuff don't blow up", that's enough. The new slogan for the Korean company: Samsung = :flaccid:

Samsung officially recalls washing machines

I had a Note 5. I really liked it at the time.

I get hired sometimes for a Samsung factory to do reworks, in that factory are made the washing machines, dryers and refrigerators for almost all the American continent(depends on the unit model) so I would tell you to beware of the dryers because I am reworking some of the engines(not that much just 2500) that came under bad conditions and have to be reworked. I don't want to see news about dryers exploding or crumbling because of the engines haha.

I saw a post on a tech forum (that got deleted pretty quickly) that Samsung could open an outlet store in Syria and charge a premium for the Note 7.

Now, if you get caught with a Samsung Note 7 on a U.S. based flight, the FAA has announced that you could be subject to 10 years in jail and a $180,000 fine.

Taking a Galaxy Note 7 on an airplane could land you a $180,000 fine

Not coincidentally, Samsung has announced to analysts that this issue is likely to cost them somewhere between $3.5-$5 billion dollars! 2x

And the sad saga of the Note 7 continues. Shame on Samsung.

Samsung is refusing to pay for property damage caused by its exploding Note 7 phone

When Samsung began recalling the Galaxy Note 7, we praised the company’s quick action and willingness to address the problems caused by its device. The need for a second recall and the complete cancellation of the Note 7 was a bit harder to compliment, but at least the company hadn’t tried to hide from its own problems… until evidence surfaced that the company was definitely trying to sweep its problem under the rug. Now, adding insult to injury, Samsung is trying to get out of paying for the property damage its devices caused.

There have been 96 Samsung Galaxy Note 7s known to have exploded or caught fire during the few weeks the phone was on the market, according to The Guardian. Thirteen of the failures caused injury, while 47 are recorded as causing property damage of one type or another. In one case, the Note 7 exploded on a nightstand, spraying chemicals across the room, damaging the bed, mattress, curtains, and carpet, as well as the nightstand itself. When John and Joni Barwick reported this to Samsung, the company refused to cover any of the damage caused by its device and referred its customers to Samsung’s insurance company — and the insurance company has refused to cover the replacement cost of any damaged items.

Seems to me that the bad PR from not paying for the damage done to your customers' property, when the device that you produced caught fire and exploded, is going to be more expensive than just writing some checks and showing people that you'll do right by them.

Man that sucks. But everybody who works in IT developement knows that the insane race to be first and most advanced on the market withthe new models drives companies to stupid decisions

And what they throw on the market, the workers of one of our companies, Siemens, they called them "Banana Products - the ripe in the hands of the buyer."

...double checked home appliance. I should be pretty safe, but that one TV-monitor makes me feel uneasy. Perhaps it's a time to buy a new one... :suspicious:
