Has anyone ever signed up for a membership for Saboom.com? I've had a terrible experience with their billing process.
I signed up for a membership on Nov 12th and paid around $30. The membership said it was a monthly membership, I cancelled it the same day I purchased it and received.
A month later on Dec 12th I noticed another charge from them in my same credit card. I looked up my membership and it said it was cancelled. I tried tying to contact the company but there was no phone number and they appeared to be overseas. I emailed them saying I had canceled and I shouldn't have been charged for a second month. They relied with an email in German or something. I relied back and they finally emailed me in English and said their agents couldn't cancel my account and I had to do it online or via fax. This wasn't acceptable to me since I had already canceled and I disputed the charge with my bank and blocked all future charges from them.
I continued to get emails from them every couple weeks saying I owed $20. Each time I relied that I didn't owe them anything cause I cancelled before the renewal but each time they responded in German or didn't answer why I was being charged.
They then started adding on a cancelation fee and a reminder fee and said I now owe $90. At this point t I was I fed up and emailed them again.
They finally responded that there was a two month minimum on their memberships so that why I was charged for a second month even though I had cancelled. I explained to them that didn't make sense cause the signup never said anything about a two month minimum and if that was the case why wouldn't they charge big months at the same time like every other website does?
They said I was welcome to take them to talk to a lawyer about it but hey stand by their policy. I told them since I wasn't aware of why I was charged until a month later that I shouldn't have to pay the late fee and cancelation fee. They waived the late fee but said I had to pay the cancellation fee and I owed $48.
I didn't agree with them at all but in was sick of arguing with them and paid it just to end it. They received my payment yesterday.
Later in the day I received an email form then saying they received my payment. The second part of the email was in German and looked like it said I owe more fees so I emailed them back asking for clarification.
At this point I will refuse to pay because I cancelled and I didn't see anything about owing a payment for a third or fourth month.
Has anyone dealt with this conpany? I'm starting to think it's a scam and they just try to scare people into paying. If I owe anything else and don't pay will they have any way to track me down down the road if they turn it over to a collection agency?
I always thought that if you have an active account and cancel your card later they will try to charge your card and if it declines they'll contact your for a new card number but if you don't respond ether just cance your account.
