My ****** bought me a subscription to RS like two years ago, and I have to say, just about every 5 star review was hardly worthy. Notable albums to receive 5 star review in the 2000s:
Mick Jagger - Godess in the Doorway
Bob Dylan - Modern Times
Bob Dylan - Love and Theft
White Stripes - Elephant
Bruce Springsteen - The Rising
Springsteen - Magic
Kanye West - Late Registration
Beck - Sea Change
Considering I have every one of those albums, I have to say their weight to me when it comes to the value their reviews hold has completely diminished. The low point on the abovementioned list is without question the Jagger disaster, but to be honest, the only real album worthy of the coveted 5 star rating would be the Rising, and even that album lacks the strength to stand up next to classics of the past.
Anyway, that subscription is still coming, and those damn magazines continue to stack up. Where, where, where has the quality music gone? I guess I'll just have to resort to my Lil Wyte CDs. :elaugh:
