I just watched a documentary on Ric Flair - was he the greatest all-time wrestler? I dunno - it's hard to see who else had his longevity and was still able to perform at a high level at the end. The last time I saw him perform, he wasn't even in the ring and he was brilliant - it was a WWE House Show and Triple H was wrestling Goldberg. Ric Flair was Triple H's valet, basically, and did outside-the-ropes business. He was great to watch - just his physicality, flailing around like mad whenever it wasn't going well for Triple H, was hilarious stuff - very entertaining.
I'm glad that he got to go out in a situation where he was being treated well and knew that he was getting all of the respect that he deserved. Kudos to WWE for giving him that.
