what the fuck you lookin at?
I thought she died shortly after that picture was taken? Hell 4 of the americans in the famous flag raising picture on Iwo Jima were killed shortly there after.

An Iconic photo of the sort that will make man regret some of their worst decisions and stop them from repeating the same mistakes, and it did for a while. She was one of the lucky ones, brave woman.

That picture offends me on every level....especially the 18 and younger level!:nono:

I remember that pic from when it was 1st released. She was a victim of an american napalm attack. It is and was an immediate powerfull picture of just what our involvement in vietnam looked like.It and a few others like the South vietnamease general shooting the VC suspect in the head really helped to shape the negative attitude america came to have over that war.Too bad the pentagon and the govt(they have a firm grip on any media in the battle areas) don't let the truth of our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan be shown so that we could get the american people to really know whats being done in their name.

But back to the girl and that picture and the vietnam war ,lets just say it's not something america should be proud of.We were the imperalist invaders and the communists were the freedom fighters, anybody who thinks different is just a kool-aid drinker.

Incredible story.

i believe it was actually a south vietnamese attack.

Pretty much only in name. It was American manufactured Napalm dropped using most likly American planes and American maps so it's pretty much ifs and buts.

i know, and while blaming the imperial army is the easy thing to do, the south viets did ask them for help, and then chose to escalate this shit instead of trying to end it. nobody is innocent here, except for those kids.

Comparing Vietnam to Afghanistan is apples and oranges. We certainly aren't imperialists when it comes to Afghanistan. We weren't the ones who flew airplanes into their skyscrapers. Anything the military does to take care of business in Afghanistan is A-ok with me.

Ooh Rah.
