The news stories are actually taking great pains to not even reveal her stage name. Im not going to reveal it. If you look hard enough you will find it. The porn-star-student was outed when a fellow freshman, frat dude Thomas Bagley, recognized her while himself viewing online porn, reports The Chronicle, Duke’s student rag.

Bagley then ran into the video vixen. According to him, she admitted her sex work. She swore him to secrecy. Naturally, then, he went and told all his frat brothers almost immediately.

Here's a link to the article, based on a series of interviews by young Duke feminist, Katie Fernelius, that only added to "Belle's" fame on campus. Interesting article. Even though I think part of being young and growing up is that you can be naive as you work your way through life, I'm still trying to figure out how her brain was working when she made the decision to go to Duke (of all places). She couldn't have been involved in porn when she applied and was accepted to Duke (she'd have been 16 or 17). But if you choose a school that costs nearly $60 grand a year, surely she had adult film making on her mind... since she now *claims* that she wouldn't be able to pay the bills without porn. The other thing about Duke is that it's a pretty conservative and a very snobbish and cliquish ACC school. Is now. Always has been.

I actually wish her well. She's (obviously) still "finding herself". But if she finds the environment at Duke to be overbearing and judgmental, wait til she attends her first Young Republicans meeting. And if she thinks it's just college age Republicans, I would encourage her to attend a TEA party meeting and (try to) rub elbows with her fellow (so called) libertarians. She strikes me as a girl who would appreciate the writings and beliefs of Camille Paglia (a true libertarian feminist - who does not make herself out to be a victim with every utterance or use the tired, beaten-to-death word, "misogyny", every five seconds), instead of wasting her time expecting a Gloria Steinem/feminazi fan, like Katie Fernelius, to get what she says or believes. Best of luck to her though...

At once both whip smart and distressingly naïve <gee, ya think?!>, Lauren is the type of girl who cannot help but flicker a smile when she hears scandalous news—especially if it involves her. In our first conversation, she mentioned her complete fear of the news going public <here's a free clue, sweetie... doing interviews and offering to speak at public events might just cause the "news" to become even more public>, but in one of our most recent conversations, she giggled and asked, “Do you think I’ll be on Ellen?” <yeah, since you don't want your parents to find out, that would be a great idea>

Cute enough girl, I guess. Though I don't see her being able to survive and graduate from Duke now. But she seems bright enough that she should be able to get a degree from somewhere else. And once she has to declare her major (3rd year), she might want to spend her money getting a "real" degree, instead of a "gut" degree. But hey, it's her money and her life. But if she sticks with a double major in women's studies and sociology, she should probably hang onto her day job.

Power to her. I hope Emily Lindin is able to interview her for the upcoming Slut: A Documentary Film (which I'm associate producing ;D). She will no doubt have a lot to say about her own experience being slut-shamed by her peers at Duke.

Some of the people in the comments section of the news pieces are saying it. In the interviews for her scenes she says some of the same things she says in the news reports. In her facial abuse scene, one of the guys is saying, "Yeah!! All your class mates are going to see this!! How do you like that!" while she is getting fucked.
