Report: NFL legend Junior Seau found dead at his California home

TMZ is reporting retired NFL star Junior Seau is dead, and the police are investigating a shooting in his home:

NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA ... and cops are investigating a shooting ... multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Cops are currently at Seau's home just outside San Diego. Seau was 43-years-old ... and leaves behind 3 kids and an ex-wife.

Seau, a 12-time Pro Bowler and 6-time First-Team All-Pro, was selected fifth overall in the 1990 NFL draft after an outstanding collegiate career at USC. He played with the San Diego Chargers through the 2002 season, spent 2003-2005 with the Miami Dolphins, and then signed with the New England Patriots in time for the 2006 season. In New England's perfect regular season of 2007, he played in all 16 games and started four. Seau first retires after that season, only to come back and play in 2008 and 2009 before finally leaving the NFL for good.

"I'm going to go surf," he told Showtime upon his January, 2010 retirement announcement. Whatever happens, I can say, honestly say, that that probably was my last game."

Sad news indeed.

JUNIOR SEAU DEAD

NFL Legend – Junior Seau has died. Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA is believed to have shot himself.

Seau was 43-years-old … and leaves behind 3 kids and an ex-wife. Seau sent text messages to his ex-wife and 3 kids yesterday saying, “Love you.”

We here at OfficialMagicPg.com stated that Seau should be put on suicide watch after driving off of a cliff in 2010. Seau said he fell asleep at the wheel but we suspected he was suffering from severe depression.

RIP Junior Seau you will be missed.

Reports: Former Patriots linebacker Junior Seau dead

Former football player Junior Seau was found dead in his home, according to a report from TMZ.

Police are investigating a shooting at the former New England Patriot and San Diego Charger's home in Oceanside, Calif., according to multiple reports.

Seau, whose full name is Tiaina Baul Seau Jr., last played for the Patriots in 2009.

According to the North County Times, Seau committed suicide. A San Diego television station, 10news, also reported it was a suicide.

Seau's All-Pro NFL career spanned 19 seasons. He was drafted No. 5 overall in the 1990 draft out of the University of Southern California, and played 12 stellar seasons for the San Diego Chargers. He was named an all-pro 10 times and to the Pro Bowl all 12 years he was with the Chargers. In 1994, he was named the AFC Player of the Year.

In 2003, Seau was traded to the Miami Dolphins, but was released in March 2006. He was limited in his time with the Dolphins because of torn pectoral muscle.

Seau announced his retirement from football in 2006, but then days later was picked up by the Patriots. He went on to start 10 of 11 games played in the 2006 season before breaking his arm. He announced his intention to retire again in 2010.

In his career, he tallied 1,849 tackles and 56.5 sacks.

Such a sad story. I had not heard of his depression until now, why leave your kids behind man, you had values in your life to live for. I had always been a fan of the guy, even when in San Diego. He was one of the hardest hitters I've seen. Sleep well Mr. Seau.

very sad thing.there is a lot of focus on concussions and sustained brain damage that leads to depression and it isn't known if that is the case with junior but still it is amazing that he found himself in such a lonely place that suicide is.he had so many friends in players,fans and others that he had interacted with.RIP.
