nice try. If you knew me you would know I am far from angry. I have a temper for sure, but angry? nope. I get frustrated when all I hear to my request for proof of God's existence this running in a circle without an answer. I am very close with my mom and brother but not my father. My family were all catholic once but converted to Jehovah's Witness so both of my grandma's and my aunt are Witnesses. I went to meeting when I was very young but since my mom was dis-fellowshipped for divorcing my father she never made me go and didn't want any part of it. That is a crazy religion, but no more crazy than Catholics or Baptist who say you can't dance or sing lol But her husband beat her and cheated and did drugs yet because she left him with 2 small children, she was no longer welcome back into the church. Wonderful Christians lol

Ill say it again, if religion and god werent forced upon all of us here in the US and people weren't dying in the name of God every day and plotting to kill in the name of God, I would be fine. But those of us who are honest know that isn't so.

When we were in the cold war Reagan had the benefit of the Russians being atheists so they weren't so quick to blow themselves up thinking there are 72 virgins and an after-life waiting for them. The scary shit is that these crazy muslims want to die in the name of Allah because they think there is a huge party waiting for them. This is a nuclear world with one of the fastest growing radical countries in the world having more than 200 nukes. It isn't a matter of "if" we get hit with a nuclear bomb here in the US, it's just a matter of "when" and it will be because we don't believe the same bullshit that they believe when you boil it down to brass nuts.

I mean do you REALLY believe that there is a long escalator ride that will take your body up to heaven where you'll be met by people with wings and a clipboard who'll send you off to be judged???? that will be one crowded escalator! Do you REALLY think that with the atrocities committed on decent innocent people every day that there is a supreme being just watching down scratching his chin shaking his head saying "Oh that so and so is such a heathen" REALLY? all the babies born with AIDS and the children murdered and raped and tortured by people they trust most of the time and you still think that God is watching over us all?

Did you see the 911 footage of the people jumping from 100 floors up because that was the only thing to do other than to burn to death? Imagine the horror that must have been in their hearts as they made that decision. I'm sure many were praying just as exactly as those piece of shit terrorists were doing as they slammed the planes into the towers.

I think it's crazy and mindless and just further proof of how fucked we are as a society. We pray instead of research and act. We have millions of people who are becoming more and more radical with more and more hatred in their hearts and call it religion. We have Americans who claim to be religious but refuse to give $20 out of their paycheck to buy medicine for someone who can't afford it. We have politicians claiming God gave them orders to do things and a former president who said prayer and his faith gave him the decision to invade Iraq even though he knew it wouldn't be popular with the American people. How many lives did that little prayer session cost?

I don't want YOUR religion to be used to dictate how I live. I don't want my beliefs to dictate how you live either. I don't want to think that someone is sitting in a fucking cave somewhere in the middle east plotting on how to get a nuclear weapon into NYC or LA. they've already proven that it could be easily done aboard cargo ships. the border to mexico is wide open so it's a matter of when and when it happens, we will have religion to thank.

No, it isn't crazy at all. If the person is praying with the afflicted, then it often has a beneficial effect. Of these 50%, how many believe that prayer is the ONLY necessary health care? I doubt that it would be many, as that is Crazy.

If we could PROVE God's existence then there would be no need for faith. I know it is a foreign concept to you but God requires that you have faith in him. As for why bad things happen in this world and to innocent and good people, well the Bible itself says that because man is inherently a sinner that we live in a world of sin. God does not intervene in everything and allows things to happen. To those of us that believe in him, we have faith that his wisdom is far superior to us and there is a reason for the events that take place and the course that the world is on.

I actually found this board because I met a woman about 3 years ago that informed me that she used to be in the porn industry. She told me that she had a profile here and I decided to check it out. Most of my participation here is of a political nature, and I can't think of the last time that I perused the photos of the models here. Yeah as a believer it is probably hypocritical of me to even be involved here and I have thought about that quite often. There are a few OCSM's that will post a sexy photo that I admit I enjoy looking at (I am still human) and they seem to have funny personalities and I enjoy interacting with them. Most of the time I even forget they are porn stars.

Anyway, I don't think your mind is going to be changed on a message board, and I never impose my morals or religious beliefs on anyone.

But you're confusing Religion with laws. This country was largely shaped by Puritans, who had a very particular slant on interpreting scripture, and applying it to laws. To those who are Christian, gluttony is just as big a sin as anything else. This country chooses to put one above the other. That's not Religion, that's bad, inconsistent interpretation of what Religion is supposed to be. Human beings always screw things up, but if you look for good examples of Religion, they exist. Don't be fooled by the very vocal extremes (left and right) of Religion. There are lots of people between those polar extremes with whom you'd have a lot of things in common. That's true of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Baha'i, gay, straight, politician, police officer, and on and on goes the list. There are terrible cops. There are good cops. There are terrible Christians. There are good Christians. Because you live in a part of the country that thumps hard to the Conservative Right, you encounter a lot of bad Christians. Sorry to those on the Right, but the heartland of this country produces some pretty horrible examples of Christianity. Take the KKK, for example.

Additionally, there is no provision in Jewish law of that time that said anyone had to be married if they were over 21, and they certainly didn't have to be married if they were rabbis (rabbi's is incorrect, by the way) or teachers (why didn't you use an apostrophe on this one, as you did on the previous plural word?) of religion. That's merely wrong. However, If you're acknowledging the historic figure of Jesus, why do you care whatsoever if he were married? Let people believe what they want. Back off.

I don't know who the religious whack jobs are that you are associating with but the majority of those that hold religious beliefs do not dismiss medicine for a prayer only remedy for ailments.

Most of the ones that I know pray that the physicians find the cause of the illness and that God helps them in treating them or that the medication eases or cures the condition.

They no more dismiss medicine than they do food as nourishment. Your arguments are chock full of straw man fallacy and red herrings.

Mariah, do you have a problem with normal working class type folks using religion or faith to help them lead what they think is a morally sound existence? Im talking about like 90% of religous people. Forget about lawmakers or Church leaders, or radical extremists. For many or its just a moral outline. Love thy neighbor, Thou shalt not steal.
