PS3 games similar to Fallout 3

I'm still relatively new to the PS3 and am not familiar with the library. Can anyone recommend me some titles that are similar to Fallout 3? I've played games that have been good, (Uncharted 2, MGS4 etc) but they just didn't make me want to finish them. Or once I did finish them, replay ability sucked.

I'm stuck playing NHL 10 right now and I'm not happy about it. I don't really like the game, but I don't know if I have it in me to play Fallout 3 for the 50th time.

Help a brother out?

here's your answer good sir.....Demons souls. similar to the fallout 3 formula but more fantasy in the likes of oblivion and dungeons n dragons.

nice thread, Fallout 3 is cool, I like the setting and the gameplay/quests. The only thing that would make this game perfect is a online game mode. Will check this thread from time to time for some game recommendations. I don't know if the mass effect could be a compareable game but the setting is completely different I guess.

yeah, I just bought borderlands last week and I love it too....before I wouldnt look twice at a cell shaded game, but this one has me intrigued.

Its gonna depend if you want shooter or more "lord of the rings" kinda fantasy stuff.....

Infamous is an open-ended game for the PS3 that's supposed to be really good.

I came close to getting a PS3 just for it.

Infamous is one of my faves of last year but is pretty far from the fallout3 premise however....

Yeah it's more like Prototype than Fallout 3.

It was just the "open-ended" part I was comparing it to.

Sandbox games are my favorite game type.

Oblivion is from the same company that made Fallout so there are similarities. It is also probably the most open environment you will currently find.

how is oblivion? i had a guy at my old job always talk about it telling me i needed to get it but he had it for PC which i have never ever done (play games on PC i prefer consoles)
but i told him it was out way back years ago but that was before i bought the X360 and i only had PS2 & ogXBOX.
and when i got the 360 i just never got it cause i was playing just about every other game out for the system
i owuld like to give it a shot if its worth it?

Very simple to describe Mr Whaler.....Oblivion is Fallout 3 but in a dungeons and dragons fantasy setting. Obviously no guns. Theres swords,blades,magic etc. It was a good game and a great addition to 360's library early in its life cycle.

Its made by the same devs and uses the same speech choosing mechanic,similar leveling mechanic and identical adventuring mechanic with how you can steal,open shit,find shit,join groups/factions etc.....

i must say borderlands and for the open world genre and a bit back in time is dragon age a good choice.

In terms of an open world, it's hard to find any game that can match Fallout 3. Obviously, there is Oblivion, but there isn't much else unless you want to play GTA.
