I've been thinking of adding another skill to my repertoir and taking up a programming language but my searches have ended up with so many results that quite frankly I don't even understand.
For instance, I know that JavaScript is an object-oriented open-source language, and I dont know what the hell that means. I was also advised to learn PHP, HTML, Python, Ruby, Perl, C++, and so on and so on.
So I was wondering if any of you programmers could tell me what each language actually does and what's it used for, at the bottom line.
