(Probably) Upcoming Movies/Series

As I know there are some here who like a good movie or tv show, so I thought a topic like this might be of interest. So, here are some things that'll await us (or could await us) in the near future.

As some probably know already, there will be yet another movie about Robin Hood. It is called Robin Hood (who would have guessed), is directed by the great Ridley Scott and scheduled to hit cinemas in early 2010. Here's the imdb-page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0955308/
I somehow won't warm up to the idea, that Russel Crowe will be playing Robin Hood, but I love the fact that William Hurt and Cate Blanchett will be in this one.

What I am looking forward to is the RoboCop remake by Darren Aronofsky. Normally I would be very skeptical, because I don't believe that the original movie needs a remake (and normally I'm not against remakes at all), but I believe that this director can give the RoboCop franchise something new. Even though there is not much information about this one yet, the movie is in pre-production and will be coming to theatres sometime in 2010.

Then there is The Pacific, an HBO mini series about the Pacific War theatre. The crew is said to be almost the same as the Band Of Brothers crew and it is allegedly the most expensive tv production ever with a reported budget of 250 million dollars. The series was expected to air last fall, but there apparently were some "hold-ups". Word is that it will be coming this october. Well, usually, "hold-ups" that long aren't a good sign, but I'm still hopeful that this will be a great show. imdb.com, wikipedia

Another big project on HBO I'm hoping will turn out great is Boardwalk Empire, a series about the "rise of Atlantic City in the 1920s". There are some big names behind this project (Martin Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg, Timothy Van Patten, Terence Winter) and Steve Buscemi has already been signed to play one of the leads. imdb

So, what do you think? Any of those sound promising? Any movies/shows still in plannig phase or maybe just rumored about that you're looking forward to?

The Pacific;

If it turns out to be half of Band Of Brothers with almost 2.5 times the budget of the earlier... One word only.. FANTASTIC
Btw, when you say almost the same crew, do Spielberg and Tom Hanks team up again?

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
How about a sequel to Deep Rising? I liked it. And it was an obvious set up at the end...just saying. I also want them to make the god damn Thundercats movie. Cheetara is gonna be super sexy!

By the time they actually get around to it, Cheetara's tits are gonna be all shriveled and sagging. :1orglaugh

RoboCop was very goofy, I can only hope the new one isn't too bad.

I do know that a GI Joe movie is comming out this summer or next year though, don't know which :D

Is that official? I've been hearing about this for a while, but I haven't heard anything official. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like the Street Fighter movie.

I'd like to see a Conan reboot.

I really want to see The Pacific. Absolutely adored Band of Brothers!

2012 looks really interesting as I sort of like the Mayan civilisation as a subject.

Ugh, I hate war movies. I like my propaganda up front, like with john wayne. He's going to kill a million Ingines and Japs because they are in his way, and he's not going to feel bad about it. I don't agree with it, but at least it's honest and it's not trying to sell this truth and justice shite, or even worse the modern day emo soldier bitching about how hard he has it.

then why did you sign up numb nuts? I'd like to see a movie about a guy that was drafted and forced to go to war. THAT guy is the only one I want to hear about how war sucks. Oh wait, they allready did have that movie. Born On the 4th of July.

Go watch that movie. Then watch Apocalypse Now. Then go watch a movie about edgy underground hip hop dancers or the kids in school that everyone had gave up on except for one teacher that had faith in them... if you want to watch redundant shit that has been seen a million times. But you'll never need to watch another war movie.

Or even go out on a limb and watch Sands of Iwo Jima and Flags Of Our Fathers. Arguably the best movies made on the subject and less than 12 hours long.

The G.I. Joe movie is "official": imdb.com
But I don't know about it being better than the Street Fighter movie. (I guess you're refering to "The Legend of Chun Li")

As far as the Ghostbusters movie goes: I wouldn't count on anything unless you actually see a trailer. There have been rumors about this movie for at least five years now. Bill Murray denied anything up until last year, but the rumors were fired up again by some very vague comments made by Dan Aykroyd (who up until then had also always said, that he wouldn't want to have anything to do with a new Ghostbusters movie) and some others last fall. But since then nothing has happened...again...

None of those interest me. There have been too many Robin Hood movies over there years, and a RoboCop remake I find an abomination against the original. Some things just don't need to be remade.

I was referring to the lame early-90's movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damnyou and Raul Julia.
