Posting Short Videos

I would like to post some short (< 1 min) videos I have edited but haven't figured out what's allowed. Can I upload an MP4 to a file storage site and link to it? Can I upload a flv file to a YouTube like site and link to it? Are there preferred sites for hosting adult videos that are recommended? Should I just not upload video and stick to photos?
