Hey guys,

I travel and stay in hotels and sometimes when I get naughty I want to film. The problem I have is that the lighting in the hotel room sucks and comes out horrible. Does anyone have any suggestions on some kind of portable lighting I could take with me? A link with lighting? Anything would help! :(

Thanks!

Don't ask me how I know this  but 1 or 2 small but high intensity flash lights rigged with wire..preferably solder since it's malleable and easy to use and aluminum foil to reflect the in the direction you want it...:2 cents:

Give it a try.

You can be creative with the distances from the lights and foil to you etc.

Candles lot's and lot's of candles not only does it look romantic but it will make the set or room look like that classic video by the Police "Wrapped Around Your Finger"

Seems like she's trying to get something that produces enough light for good quality video, portable enough to not have 40 extra pounds of travel luggage and inexpensive enough to be practical. Candles most likely won't produce nearly enough light...wouldn't even outshine the room lighting I'm thinking. Maybe traveling with them looking like sticks of dynamite in her luggage would be another issue. :o

For a measly sum of $120, This looks like a decent starter kit.

:hatsoff:

Very nice!! Looks (looks) like it won't be much of a hassle to lug around either. May have to get one of those.

Seems like the problem solver.

WOW YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! I can't believe how helpful you all are. Honestly. Thank you so much fellas. I might have to do the $120 lighting set. OMG hopefully that helps.

I think once I use your suggestions I'll post a nice video thank you with the new lighting! :) See I'm a giver! lol

Seriously thank you! xoxoo

I know it sounds stupid but try and make the room as lightly coloured as possible. Maybe put up a couple of light coloured sheeting around the place (out of camera) then when the light hits the surface it should appear brighter. Im not saying it will work because im not an expert on this sort of thing but you could give it go. Let me know how things work out!

Check ETC and Strand. A couple Par cans on bases aren't that bulky, or heavy, and can pack quite a punch in terms of how much they can illuminate.

ive just started filming my own content for a future site and am experimenting with portable lights as well..

a cool trick on a budget is a desk lamp that bends so you can point it the direction you want with a nice clear cfl or whatever you like for a colourless light.

so far its worked well for me. also, bathroom vanities with nice cfls look great too on my HD cam
