Piers Morgan Sticks His Head In A Lion's Mouth Again As He Speaks His Mind

You don't have to agree with him to appreciate his boldness. I remember this one time my mother was telling me in the car all the way to Thanksgiving Dinner that she would provide a formal defense for Benedict Arnold and be willing to take on all the Palos Verdes family members by herself. She lunged at everyone as soon as the salad was done. She sure loved salad.

Just to play devil's advocate here, what's the difference between Piers' boldness and trump's boldness, and should we be appreciating the latter just the same?

Also props to your mom. That must have quite the lunge. What kind of salad was it?

Good question. Perhaps one person's opinion may effect popular culture and the other more important world events. I appreciated the unsafeness of what Piers did embracing the potential consequence. He knew he would catch shit for it but did it anyway.

Thanks. I remember the salad was nutty and the aftertaste made some people sick. My mother wasn't offered another opportunity for salad again for years. This brought back horrible memories of her childhood in West Texas where she was branded a witch and a Godless Communist. The town all got together and voted agreeing to not offer her any more salads after she turned 16. My mother got on a train and stood up all the way until she got to California. You know what the first Californian she met asked her? Would you like some salad? Then he asked if she preferred jelly or syrup. Welcome To LA, mommy. Welcome to Hell...

My favourite Piers Morgan moment was when he fucked off to America and the UK got a break from him for a couple of years.

So where do you guys stand on the point he was trying to make? He obviously could have done a much better job of articulating it, but there seems to be enough substance for some debate.

Morgan: "there’s nothing heroic or brave about quitting because you’re not having ‘fun’ – you let down your team-mates, your fans and your country."

It seems fairly hypocritical of Morgan to make this statement given his own 'quitting'. I know that much.

I have watched zero coverage of the Olympics (probably a first for me) this year. All of my 'watching' has been in the media.

Here is a conversation. Two people talking.

Rogan:
“So many people are shitting on her online and calling her a coward. It’s disgusting. You have no idea what’s going on in her head. She’s supposed to play when she’s suicidal? She’s supposed to play when she’s freaking out? “Is she supposed to do gymnastics when she’s literally losing her mind? When people get off prescription drugs… I don’t know what it’s like to get off Ritalin. But I would imagine it’s not fun.”

Biles’ use of ADHD medication has come under scrutiny multiple times throughout her career, although she has received permission to use the drug by the WADA under therapeutic use exemption.

Remember how good the Montreal 1976 Olympic games were? We had Bruce Jenner and all those great American boxers. Everybody was amazed at Romanian Nadia Comaneci nailing her 10s. I was a kid and those games were magical to me. Also, the programming of those events were shown at good times and people watched them.

I think Simone Biles showed a lot of strength and was a great teammate. She could have gone on but then they may not have medaled. So bring in an alternate to take her place she comes out of the locker room talks to her teammates and get them hyped up. She rooted on her team. She has been training for so long and 5 years for this Olympics and all you heard about after 2016 Olympics was Simone Biles and she kept getting better. I am sure it felt like the weight of world was on her. Even the judges were not scoring her fairly as she did tough routines but the judges gave her low scores on difficulty because they were afraid other gymnasts would feel they would have to do the same to keep up with her and they were afraid someone might get hurt. So she was doing a move no other female gymnast has ever attempted but did it with ease they basically said it was not fair. That would be like a runner running faster than the others and them telling them you need to slow down to allow others to compete. She should have been praised and given props for what she was doing but the judges felt no need to score her for her difficulty. She could have stayed in the locker room but she came out talked to her teammates and supported them. They won silver as a team. What she did was courageous, inspirational and a great teammate. Cry baby Morgan who should be sent to Mars and I am sure hardly did any kind of sports or at an elite level. One last thing when I was in school I loved sports but was no star, was about a C to B- student did not have any enemies I got picked on a lot in school because they were upper classmen or needed to boost their ego. Everyone I know got picked on you dealt with it and moved on. Today they seem to baby kids today, now I grew up with no mobile phones, social media and so on so maybe I do not understand why so many young kids kill them self over twitter posts or being picked on in school and they even trying to charge that girl who told that boy to jump off a bridge and he did. I know most people heard so many times if your friend jumped off a bridge would you. One thing we need to change that Trump created a lot of his hate. Way to much hate in this world. Sorry so long, take care.

Amen brother. Don’t apologize for the length, it needed to be said. You said well.

A quitter would have sulked and hid from view. She is 24 and has been on the national team since 2012 when she would have been 15. She has been training since 8. Bill Buckner had a great career and we only remember his error.

As Dino notes, let us remember the good times.

I hear you on the schooling. Fortunately my math grades were much better than my catching abilities. I threw a kid out during a game and he circled back to me in school with “I have 3 times as many girlfriends as you.” My response was 3 times zero is still zero.

Parents are living vicariously through their kids in many cases. I coached a few of my kids’ teams and they could be relentless on the kids. Most were wonderful, but there were usually a couple bad eggs. They were kids having fun.

Sports is always broken down by one play, Bill Buckner was playing way behind the bag at 1st and Mookie Wilson hit a slow roller just inside the line or more actually not slow but a tough play any time plus Mookie was fast so no for sure out. They could have won the next game but they came in looking like they already lost.

Then you have Donnie Moore in 1986 one strike from the Angels winning the American League Championship Series when Boston's Dave Henderson hit a home run which eventually led to the Red Sox winning game 5 in 11 innings 7 to 6. Then lost the next 2 games which the Red Sox won the A.L. Championship Series. A few years later in 89 Donnie Moore committed suicide.

The late great Jim McKay and ABC's Wide World Of Sports Spoke of it and ABC showed it. "The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat!"

I remember Bill Buckner as a Dodger. With a porn mustache like that he woulda fit in here perfectly. How was his name not Randy?

Maybe he was here. Did any members unexpectedly stop posting in 2019?

Donnie Moore was tragic.

Andres Escobar of Columbia is another tragic example. Allegedly killed in response to scoring an own goal in the World Cup.
