The 100 billion dollar figure is valid, but it is split among thousands of companies spread all around the U. S. and the world so it doesn't necessarily mean that any one company is getting rich because the distribution of the money is so fragmented. I truly don't give a shit if any porn company or porn performer makes any money. I have no horse in this race. After California proposition 60 on November 8th passes on the California ballot, the California porn industry will be in deeper shit, but I don't care. If the porn industry had their shit together, they would protect their copyrights and take legal action against any free porn site using their copyrighted material, but they continue to do nothing about it. I stand by my original post. If you want to watch porn, don't pay for it. Do it for free. If the porn companies don't care about protecting their copyrights, why should you?

If the porn industry does make $100B, good for them, obviously there's a market for what they're selling and you'd better care if they make money, because if they don't, the only porn you'll have will be the crappy home-made variety. If there's no money in it, you can kiss all the high-quality porn goodbye. They would be fools to not try to protect their copyrights, but what you probably haven't thought about is that there are so many people ripping them off everyday that they can't get them all taken down no matter how hard they try, and there are countries where the copyright laws don't apply and there isn't anything that can be done. And if it gets to the point where too much pirated content has gotten out there and too many people stop paying because of all the "free" stuff, there will no longer be any new because they can't make money from it.
The porn industry can't even protect their copyrights in the U. S. compared to the music industry who sues everyone. The 100 billion dollars is a total for the whole world. It is split among thousands of companies worldwide. You also have to understand that if the whole porn industry goes down the toilet tomorrow, I don't give a shit. I like real females better. What will screw the L. A. porn industry is when proposition 60 passes November 8th on the California ballot. If you don't know what's in proposition 60, you better read up on it. There's another issue you can think about. All the cams sites are going to get sued by ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and the Sound Exchange because all the cam girls use music and the public performance of music means the cam sites are liable for royalties.

As I am not in California, I don't really care what they do to themselves. You can't really compare the efforts of the music and porn industries defense of their copyrights because the music industry was already huge and had the resources and got in early on that when the internet was still young and made a big stink about pirated music, while porn has really only gotten big enough to fight back here lately and a sizable chunk of the industry is self-employed and they don't have the resources to deal with it. And as big a deal as the music industry made about pirate music on the internet, you would think they would have already done something about the cam girls using music in the background if they were going to.
