Obama Branded America a 'Racist Society' In Unpublished Manuscript

Barack Obama once called America a 'racist society' in an unpublished manuscript from his law school days, according to a Pulitzer Prize winning historian.

Biographer David Garrow says he uncovered a number of significant revelations about the former US president for his upcoming book on Obama's life to be released next month.

Garrow, who spent eight years researching and writing the biography, told The Jamie Weinstein Show that it was quite possible some of the revelations could have derailed Obama's candidacy if they surfaced in 2008.

The historian said Obama and his friend Robert Fischer wrote hundreds of pages for a proposed book in the early 1990s when they were still in law school. The manuscript was never published.

'Racism against African Americans continues to exist throughout American society, an admittedly racist culture,' Obama and Fischer wrote, according to Garrow.

'Precisely because America is a racist society we cannot realistically expect white America to make special concessions toward blacks over the long haul.

'The greatest testimony to the force of racist ideology in American culture is that it infects not only the mind of whites, but the minds of blacks as well.'

Garrow said there was 140 or so pages about race in the manuscript, which gave an insight into Obama's thinking when he was leaving law school and about to enter public life in Illinois.

Without going into detail, he said if Republican researchers had come across the manuscript when Obama first ran for president, there would have been multiple things that could have negatively impacted him.

He said people would be 'profoundly astonished' by how much of Obama's life has not yet been revealed, but added that it wasn't necessarily in a negative context.

He also suggested that he would question the reliability of parts of Obama's memoir Dreams From My Father, which was published in 2004.

Garrow, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for his biography Martin Luther King, Jr., carried out 1,000 interviews for his latest book on Obama.

Just imagine if the MSM covered Obama the same way they covered Trump in 2016. SMH

Not astonished at all that you would post that.

How is Obama wrong?
Is there anybody who isn't aware of the degree of racial strife this nation has experienced?
Were we not a pointedly racist society up to and beyond the passage of the Civil Rights Acts?
Is there anybody who actually believes racism (whether it be white or black) isn't still alive and kicking here today?

Trolls won't even admit Obama could be right if he told them the time of the day.

This quote is a bit unsettling. "Special concessions"? What sort of concessions would he be interested in? The fact that he was afforded the opportunity to attend law school, I'm sure, had nothing to do with his race. I would like to see more opportunity for everyone, race shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Doesn't surprise me. Barry needs to be arrested for treason.

Persistent, not that anyone with much sense gives a flying fuck.

1) We can't be sure Garrow is right.
2) Even if he is, we're talking about something Obama wrote 15-20 years before being elected

He would have had the opportunity to explain why he wrote that (if he did, again we can't be sure Arrow is telling the truth) and what's his thought on the issue now.
