I'm in favor of nuclear energy. Using proven and safe naval nuclear technology at the county level would eliminate entirely the need to burn fossil fuels for electricity.

Only if it comes with a guarantee to do illegal testing on unsuspecting workers, I wanna see some MARVEL-type shit happening there.

On one hand I trust the technology, but on the other hand I don't trust Stormont enough to actually make it happen.

I'd like to build a nuclear power plant in your hometown so unsafe that it causes widespread sterility and your people wouldn't be able to contaminate the rest of the world.

I'm totally against nuke power. We need to use what we have sitting right below us, including that in Canada.

Yes, but the waste generated by nuclear power plant is not risk-free and it will never disappear.

Tip; U.S Army can take control of Canada's oil ares if they do not sell it to you cheaply. :sheep:

But you have no problem using it in weapons?

Uhh.... gee, when was the last time The United States used a nuke as a weapon?

So since it's not being used, and there already far more weapons than are required as a deterrent... you support ceasing the production of new nuclear weapons and the disarmament of much of the current stockpile?

I realize that. My point was, having the nuclear material around is dangerous, so is your reason because of the danger of nuclear material, or just because mining and logging, etc. are industries that employ many people, and would provide more jobs then a nuke plant?

Well, since we have an abundance of coal, natural gas, and oil right here under our feet, I think it would create more jobs here in the USA and, it would make us far less dependent on foreign oil, etc.

Yep. It's 2013 and we have all these great inventions, cures, and technology. Where are the Super-Heroes though? Not even a confused Frankenstein Monster stumbling through the woods killing everything it sees.

When it's handled safely, nuclear energy is the best way to produce cheap energy and it's much more cleaner than coal, oil or gas.

Fair enough, but here's where I get a little iffy on the whole situation. We do have some of the highest quality natural resources, in abundance....but the companies sell them over seas, and import our oil and natural gas, then charge us unreasonable rates, while making record profits. I'm all for free enterprise, But some of these companies are just plain outright raping the American public.

I am in favour if it's built well in a zone where there is little to no risk of natural disasters and used as an interim power supply until natural power supply (eg wave turbines) can take it's place.
Not that anyone gives a shit.

Proven? Chernobyl? Bad management. Japan? There had been several warnings and small incidents before it happened. Nuclear is safe if you can handle it well, the question is, can you handle it well? Not even the Japanese could.

The U.S. army can't handle Iraq or Afghanistan. can they handle a 1st world country?

Smart man; showing independant thought. "Free trade" doesn't always produce the best results.
