I've been getting somewhat nostalgic for my younger days, just lately.
The internet is fantastic for looking up things that you liked back in your ***** hood.
So why not use this thread to post about whatever you used to like when you were a ***.
BMX bikes - I was mad about BMXs back in the early 80's. Myself and some mates would meet up after school and at weekends to ride about, puilling off tricks that we had seen and read about in Magazines.
BTW: the ONLY BMX magazine worth buying was 'BMX Action Bike'.
We used to stare in wonder at the guys pulling off outrageous tricks..
I can remember the likes of Bob Haro, Eddie Fiola, Andy Rodriguez (and others that I can barely remember)
and tricks like 'endos', kickturns', 'bunny-hops', 'The Cherrypicker', 'The rockwalk' (I excelled at that one!).
Action Man!
Yeah..I had loads of Action Man stuff.
Tank, Jeep, Control tower, sub, Motorcycle and sidecar..oh what a lovely war!
I had three of the Action man dolls, one blonde, one dark and one sort of brownish with a beard (and 'eagle eyes'!)
The only problem was that the gripping hands would lose their grip after a while (or to be more precise, they would lose their fingers)
Six Million Dollar Man (Doll and TV series)
I used to like watching the TV series, though I actually found some episodes a bit scary!
I first got one of the Doll's for my 8th birthday..I was chuffed to bits with it, 'telescopic eye' and that 'bionic' right arm....remember?
You had to turn the doll's head to the right and then push the red button on his back..came complete with the car engine that he could lift.
I also had an extra 'laser' arm to fit on my doll. You pulled back the han and a small 'laser' would flash from the wrist-joint.
(BTW: Can anyone tell me how Steve managed to defeat the 'Death Probe II' - I missed the end of that episode and it always bugged me)
The Muppet show
Every sunday night I would sit and watch.
I loved the two old guys on the balcony 'Statler and Waldorf' always cracked me up.
...not forgetting Dr Bunsen-Honeydew and his assistant Beaker.
Micronauts
Anyone remember these tiny space-figures?.
I remember they came out in the mid-seventies.
I don't think they were ever that popular in the UK, but I had quite a few figures and vehicles.
Lego
I spent hours and hours and hours buliding stuff, especially with the 'Technic' lego.
I had quite a few of the Technic sets.....best toy ever IMO.
Feel free to post some of your own ********* memories.
