Are producers and scenarists so poorly inspired or lazy not to create new movies instead of making remakes from old classics ?

well...potentially shitty remake of a popular classic title=guaranteed profit
whereas...new and genuinely original horror flick requires a lot more work, effort and money (especially advertising) and runs the risk of not being a success, hence not netting enough profit to justify making the movie unfortunately...
