Slone was born in Montreal, Quebec, and raised in Wolfville and Halifax, Nova Scotia.[2] She began pursuing classical voice training at the age of 12 with the goal of becoming an opera singer. At the age of 18, she attended Concordia University to pursue a degree in music. While there, however, she switched her aspirations to acting and rock music, and subsequently moved to Toronto.
In 1996, Slone became the lead singer of Joydrop. The band released two albums, had chart hits in Canada with "Beautiful" and "Sometimes Wanna Die," and was nominated for a Juno Award.
In 1998, Slone landed a recurring role in La Femme Nikita. She appeared in three episodes. In 2008, she appeared in an episode of the second season of The Border, titled "Prescriptive Measures", as an American pop star who dies early on in the episode, which sparks the main plot of the episode.
Since the breakup of Joydrop, Slone has worked on a solo album with Jordon Zadorozny. Her latest album is Just Look Pretty and Sing, which was released on March 6, 2007. Singles released include "My Little Secret", "We Were Stars" and "The Perfect Girl."
Slone competed on Rock Star INXS. On week four, she was again placed in the bottom three after her version of "Message in a Bottle". She was then eliminated that week.
Slone is currently signed to Orange Record Label. She was co-host of the entertainment program Inside Jam with Chris Van Vliet on SUN TV in Toronto.
She previously resided in Toronto, sharing a house with fellow Rock Star INXS contestant Suzie McNeil. The two appeared in an episode of MTV Cribs, giving viewers a tour of their house.
Beginning August 9, 2010, Slone was the host of Breakfast Television on Citytv Calgary. She left Breakfast Television on August 28, 2015.[3]
Slone began working for the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour in October 2014.,[4] and is currently the co-host of the Rogers Sportsnet Hometown Hockey Tour, alongside Ron McLean.[5]
She is married and has a daughter.
