Neapolitan icecream justified?

Wondering your thoughts.
From the time the English began colonizing North America in the 1600's until the late 1900's, there were many treats big and small created by man.
Somewhere along the way, someone created the innocent Neapolitan icecream.
We all liked the Chocolate and even the Vanilla...but the Strawberry, while peaceful, was savagely ignored.

My question is were they justified in putting Strawberry with these other two mighty title holders?
Could/Should they have done more to protect it and drive out the other two favorited icecreams?
Or should Strawberry just have accepted it?
