This thread is for all metalheads and non-metalheads looking to expand their metal/musical tastes, and those who simply want to list their fav bands.

Two rules: Don't mention any poser metal bands such as Slipknot or Korn and dont be a jackass; e.g., bashing other peoples preferences or particular metal bands or subgenres. Metal elitests, wank off! (not too hard to do, since theres a porn forum next door, )

Subgenre: Symphonic metal
Band: Therion
Album: Vovin

Vovin is truely a majestic album that spans the genres of metal, orchestral, and choral music. The professional operatic singing includes males and females of all vocal ranges to create a unheard of sound along with metal. Choir vocals mixed wth orchestrations are arranged in perfect harmony to the heavyness of distorted guitars and the songs vary from creating a frantic pace to a haunting, doomy feeling. This is a must listen to and its very high up on my list of fav metal albums. I'd reccomend this to anyone getting into metal.

I'm sure Cinderella would be laughed at Wacken Open Air- Slipknot wouldn't.

also, half of those images are pretty satanic. Metal doesnt have to have anything to do with satan or burning churches/crosses.

they are so phony and talentless. they dont care about music, they just try the blend into the mainstream, write meaningless songs and collect their checks. i dont dig bands they dont try. you turn on the radio its all the same crap, everyone sounds the same. its all about the check and not about the music, and these guys are the worst ones. i cant stand them. rip offs and fakes is what i call em.

Korn is "nu-metal." It is argueably a genre of metal, despite the word metal being in it, look at the bands who are in the genre. It's all rehash, not something new and innovative such as symphonic metal.

Absolutely, "nu metal" is a derrogatory name given to those bands by the general public for being so high on the shit factor. Also being the band has no technical talent, and as I said before, rehash.

I acknowledge my mistake. I should have worded my rules to include the term: "nu-metal" or else just leave the thread open to all metal.

A mod can trash the thread if they like, 'cause now I see how people are offended by my rules. I'm a shithead.

heres my clincher. once a band is catagorized or refers itself to a lable of style, they are screwed. that is not what music is supposed to be about. i dont know about everyone else but im not down with all these clones. im not taking offense, im cool rhino no worries. you just can jump out of bed and be like "im going to be in an emo band" or a "metal band" thats not cool. and wtf is up with all this stupid emo stuff. anorexic boys with hair in their eyes wearing tight pants and make up, not cool. they are copying those awful bands and you can tell how they are all in that "emo" style. that is not true to yourself. thats kicking music when its down. god save the future of music.

i just get so torn up with what music has become of late. my band(s) and i are trying real hard to do something new its so painful seeing all the crap out now. money makers, no love for the spirt of music and individualism. i can read right through all these facades.

in the words of billy corgan: "if rock and roll is so fucking great, where are the good fucking bands?"

Winterherz ure right, nu metal has no business in metal, i tend to call it mallcore, rapcore now. Slipknot and korn are not metal. All the same rubbish. But yeah them pictures tend to be "too" extreme and nothing to di with metal.
