I'm going with Cube on this one. Cube is one of those movies that people either love or hate. I thought it was a cool movie. I saw Cube before it became a cult classic... before the "Hey... have you seen the movie Cube... you gotta see it". Cube is like a old school Twilight Zone episode made into a movie.

Am I the only one that thinks the makers of Saw got some of their ideas from Cube?

Cube by a landslide. The sequels have been disappointing, although Cube Zero is much better than Cube 2 IMO.

Saw 1 had some interesting ideas, but could have been about 20 minutes shorter and not lost any value. Beyond that, Jigsaw and Amanda were interesting characters but everything else in the sequels has been pretty disappointing.

As for concept and parable, the Saw series was originally more about individual human psychology, whereas Cube was about human society. I won't say there wasn't any derivation, however -- it's quite possible that the Saw sequels have more than a bit to owe to Cube.

Never heard of cube, but it looks pretty cool. I'll have to watch it. I do love Saw 1 though (cant say the same about the sequels).

Cube.

There's absolutely no competition at all between the two, it is by far the superior film.

What's cool about Cube is that it doesn't answer all your questions... this would normally ruin a film... but in the movie Cube those unanswered questions make the film even better IMHO.

Because when they don't answer all the questions it forces you to think a little more and use your imagination.

When a film does this effectively it can really fuck with your head. lol

Cube. I saw it when it first came out too, the ending was excellent. I love how they tied it together with Cube Zero.

Cube is so much better than Saw it's not even funny.

koolj...my man. You gotta learn to do a poll. Save yourself all this counting nonsense.

Cube.

The opening kill is one of the most brutal kills in horror movie history. It rivals the shit found in some of the ultra-violent anime and it's done remarkably well considering the budget. Hell, they only constructed one room and just kept changing the colors...and it was 100% convincing.

Unfortunately, STDiva's review of Splice leaves me to think that Vince Natali hasn't captured lightning in a bottle this time around.

I never liked Saw and the whole series came off as a Se7en knockoff to me. The ankle saw scene in Saw came well after Takashi Miike's ankle slice scene in Audition made it around the world. Plus, wasn't one of the New Kids on the Block in one of them?

I have not seen Cube in years but I loved it, great movie. However the first Saw was very good as well. I am going to have to go with Cube though.

I've never seen, or heard of Cube, and I hate the Saw movies, so I'd have to say Cube.
