Motherfucking motherfucker!!!!

I'm thinking about installing XP again, but someone recently told me that Micrososft will soon stop updating Windows XP. That could be a problem, right?

Eventually it might cause a security or performance issue with some websites or (new) programs. But you could run Windows 98SE still, if you wanted to. And I don't think that has been supported for awhile.

Like Funkipman, I also switched to a Mac platform about two months ago (even with the learning curve, life has been great since the switch = VERY happy!). But since I have loads of Windows programs and files, I also run Windows XP Pro SP3 on the other screen (at the same I have Mac OS on the main screen). If my girl's nephew will load his copy of Windows 7 for me, I'll take it (who doesn't like free?). But I have no intention of buying another version of Windows EVER. Whether they continue to support XP or not, that's what I'll run as an accessory program to the Mac OS. You should be OK for years after they stop supporting it.

So XP is where I'm headed, then!
I'm just so damned frustrated right now. Why in the hell would they make a system that is so fucked up? (Windows 7.)

It's just what Microsoft does... which is why I (and millions of others) have left Windows behind and switched to the Mac OS. Actually, my favorite versions of Windows have been NT and XP. Vista and Me were the suck though. At work, I use a machine that has Win 7, and I can't say that it makes me want to come back to the Windows family at all. From what little I've read about it, Windows 8 is going to be some sort of Mac OS/iOS wannabe program. Supposedly it'll work with PC's, as well as tablets. How that's going to work, I have no idea. It probably won't... as that's just what Microsoft does.

For basic, utilitarian work, XP is good enough for me. I'm really used to it, so I feel comfortable staying with it (as an accessory ;)).

I just want to able to install my games on my new stupid fucking PC! I have tried something like twelve or fourteen of my games, and so far, the ONLY one that would both install, AND run, is my Homeworld from 1999!
The others would either refuse to install, or crash horribly when I tried to start them.

ShayD would be the man to talk to. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him around here in quite awhile.
