Military opens door to more dropouts

The military has taken a number of other steps to keep up its ranks, including some viewed as a lowering of its standards. It has increased the number of waivers it issues for people who wouldn't otherwise qualify because of medical reasons or because of criminal convictions, and it has raised the enlistment age to 42.

Amazing. I remember a government agency I was familiar with started doing this looking for management people even with poor education or criminal backgrounds. The ironic thing was they completely disregarded anyone already in their ranks with a college degree as not appropriate for training in their management style, which was partially coercive and required using intimidation on employees. They wanted young people with no preconceived notions about honesty and integrity. Seemed the smarter and more honest you might be the less qualified you were to do the job.
