Mayer represented the United States as part of Team USA in the women's 60 kg category at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.[4][5] She defeated Jennifer Chieng in the Round of 16 before being eliminated in the quarterfinal by Russian Anastasia Belyakova, who took a majority decision.[6]
