Subgenre: Symphonic metal
Band: Therion
Album: Vovin

Vovin is truely a majestic album that spans the genres of metal, orchestral, and choral music. The professional operatic singing includes males and females of all vocal ranges to create a unheard of sound along with metal. Choir vocals mixed wth orchestrations are arranged in perfect harmony to the heavyness of distorted guitars and the songs vary from creating a frantic pace to a haunting, doomy feeling. This is a must listen to and its very high up on my list of fav metal albums. I'd reccomend this to anyone getting into metal.

Yea I splooged all over the last metal thread so I made this one without exceptions.

Moonsorrow - Kivenkantaja
Ok the songs are completely in Finnish, which even I don't understand! For those who are foreign to Finnish language, it's really no big deal. The vocals are usually singing with the occasional screams. The elements used in the song are acoustics, acordian, fiddle, mouth harp to make it sound very authentic and of course, distorted guitars! This is by far my fav Folk metal album. It's fairly easy listening to newcomers so I reccomend it to anyone

I love metal, my problem is I love so many kinds of metal and rock that people always think I'm not one of them, I'm not a metalist because I like punk and I'm not a punk because I like metal. I also get alot of bullshit for liking techno. Oh well.

Album: Velvet Darkness They Fear

Theatre of Tragedy were one of the first bands that had any commercial success with the mix of female soprano and male death-metal vocals, usually called "beauty and the beast vocals". Velvet Darkness They Fear is their second album and is in my opinion their best. The music is very slow and quite heavy with lost of influences from classical music.

Similar bands: Within Temptation (the first album), Leaves´ Eyes, After Forever, The Sins of Thy Beloved

This shoudl be excellent as I like Within Tempation a lot. Thanks for contributing a goth-metal abnd and expanding the subgenres!

Mallcore is Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Korn, etc... labled so due to their genericness and unmetalness which the majority agrees on. Yea, you have to have lables in metal because the music is so varied. Metalcore is supposedly bands like Trivium, who incorporate metal with their emo music. Grindcore is closer to death metal, but with piggy squeals and grunts and less technical riffs. Another charcateristic of grindcore is making extremely short songs.

Metalcore is just hardcore punk mixed with heavy metal. Alot of bands in that genre sound alike. I only like a few due to them having really not much elements of hardcore punk in them

Emo is just another side of punk and i really hate EMO

but what is hardcore? i thought it was emotional/political/passionate punk/metal. and what is emo? certainly not what is billed as emo today, thats all pop punk. "screamo" is closer to what emo was all along and wasn't called screamo until a few years ago. and so many indie bands are called emo. but what is indie? alot of those bands are all on major label's sub-labels. all this labeling has me confused. victory was a hardcore label, now an emo label to bands that aren't even emo, just more radio nonsense.

i'll just wear black and listen to whatever is 'cool' while i contemplate slitting my wrists over a girl that doesn't "get" me.
or, i'll listen to whatever is actually good, no matter what 'genre' it supposedly belongs to while i talk to the same girl that doesn't "get" me and hope i have a good dream.


i hope drama queens all choke.
