Margot Bingham is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She is best known for her role as jazz singer Daughter Maitland in the HBO period drama series, Boardwalk Empire. In 2015, Bingham began starring as one of lead characters in the ABC drama series, The Family.
Life and career
Bingham was born in 1987/1988 and raised in the Green Tree suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Craig Bingham, a former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, and Lynne Bingham. She graduated in 2006 from the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and attended Point Park University for two years before relocating to New York City.[2] She began appearing on stage there in 2010, and had a role in the 2011 revival of Rent.[3] During that same time, she co-starred in the web series In Between Men, and performed in BAM Cafe at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.[3]
In 2013, Bingham was cast in the recurring role of the 1920s jazz singer Daughter Maitland in the HBO period drama series, Boardwalk Empire, for which she received positive reviews from critics.[3][4] In 2014, she had the recurring role in the short-lived El Rey Network series, Matador.[5] In 2015, Bingham was cast as one of the female lead characters opposite Joan Allen in the ABC drama series, The Family created by Jenna Bans.[6]

Critically heralded actress and singer/songwriter Pittsburgh native Margot Bingham most known for capturing hearts as sultry jazz chanteuse on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire," then went onto capturing criminals as a hard-driving detective in the ABC series "The Family," executive produced by Jenna Bans ("Scandal," "Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives"). In the past year, Bingham lead her first Tribeca Film Festival feature-film role in, 'Saturday Church,' as well as attending for a second year in a row at the LA Film Festival in, 'Anything,' alongside of Matt Bomer, John Carroll Lynch, executive produced by Mark Ruffalo. The first year was with feature, 'Destined,' directed by the well respected Qasim Basir. She joins the New Orleans "Queen Sugar" cast for Season Two of the critically acclaimed show on the OWN Network. Bingham is very excited for her most recent Netflix debut in the Spike Lee reincarnation of "She's Gotta Have It." And if that wasn't enough, you can catch her piecing together NYC crimes with Donnie Wahlberg, in Season 8 of "Blue Bloods."
Bingham appeared in the off-Broadway revival of Rent, directed by original and Tony-nominated Michael Grief, and enjoys performing for audiences at the likes of Rockwood Music Hall, BAM and other venues where she made her home in NYC . She is active in a breadth of cause-driven organizations and events, including City Harvest, supporting LGBTQ youth, and the Orphaned Starfish Foundation.

Bingham was born in Kingston, Jamaica and attended Stamford High School in Stamford, Connecticut.[1]
He matriculated at Syracuse University.[1] His college teammates included future Hall of Famer Art Monk as well as several other future NFL players: Gary Anderson, Joe Morris, Jim Collins, Craig Wolfley, Andrew Gissinger and Bill Hurley.[2]
