if you want to run OSX (for whatever inexplicable reason) you can just download it from a number of sites, and run it on your PC in a dual-boot config. many netbooks even work with it so you could technically make yourself a $250 macbook... but why would you want to? it's like the "porchev" conversion (google it), where a moron puts a chevy engine inside a porsche... WHY?
what i don't get about apple's position here is their idiotic apple=hardware+software stance. they will never get more marketshare if they force people to buy their expensive products, and they won't get more support from developers if only a few people buy their machines/operating systems. wouldn't it make more sense to license a few companies to make clones, thereby broadening the market appeal, and thus getting a larger marketshare?
or are they just furious that someone showed people that you can build a perfect clone of a mac for $500 less than apple, thereby proving that apple customers get screwed royally?
