fuck me in tha ass while i'm still running, I messed up the poll choices LOL

I think we had clone macs a few years back although they were produced under licence, they seem to disappear of the scene, and I would guess the same will go for the Pedraza Brother's. Its the brand marketing and quality that sells Apple products and people are prepared to pay for it. Anything else will be seen as a 'fake'.

I'm impressed by the fact that there are people who buy the Pedraza's products because they like OSX, and not just because it is trendy as fuck to buy a mac.

^ it's both impressive and smart too

I don't know much about this case. But are these the same guys that were found to be installing illegal copies of the Mac OS on some of their machines?

I assume Team Macintosh was supposed to be the Brothers? I voted for them. Apple has invested billions in creating their brand and image. Cheap knockoffs aren't going to harm that. As long as the Brothers purchase copies of their software LEGALLY, I don't see what's wrong.

I agree with the person who said this in Hellraiser's article:
“I’m afraid we were going to end up with another Microsoft, with people buying so many bad computers for years just because that’s all they can get,” De Silva says. “Competition is important.”

Apple can also price the Brothers out of the market if they want to, basically. They could charge VARs a higher price for the OS than single users...:dunno:

^ no bud, Team Apple was actually supposed to be were i typed in Team Pedraza :p

The article says they are installing legal copies of Mac OS

^^^ Oh, OK. Maybe I was reading about one of the other knock-off makers. Somebody was accused of illegally installing O/S software... not sure who. Like I said, I haven't really followed this case.

Ya know, a few years after I bought my Mac+, somebody was making knock-offs then. But I never heard what happened to them. I always figured that was a major reason why Apple didn't get the market penetration that Microsoft got with Winders. But I guess Apple has taken the (exclusive) Ferrari route instead of the (grocery getter) Toyota route. And it's working, so who am I to criticize? I like my AAPL and I'm glad I didn't buy MSFT.

if you want to run OSX (for whatever inexplicable reason) you can just download it from a number of sites, and run it on your PC in a dual-boot config. many netbooks even work with it so you could technically make yourself a $250 macbook... but why would you want to? it's like the "porchev" conversion (google it), where a moron puts a chevy engine inside a porsche... WHY?

what i don't get about apple's position here is their idiotic apple=hardware+software stance. they will never get more marketshare if they force people to buy their expensive products, and they won't get more support from developers if only a few people buy their machines/operating systems. wouldn't it make more sense to license a few companies to make clones, thereby broadening the market appeal, and thus getting a larger marketshare?

or are they just furious that someone showed people that you can build a perfect clone of a mac for $500 less than apple, thereby proving that apple customers get screwed royally?
