Laptop experts I need your input!!

I have been looking online at some laptops from hp and so far I have configured the following

16'' widescreen hd brightview monitor

Vista Home premium 64 bit

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor p7350 ( 2.0 GHZ, 3mb l2 cache)

4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD

LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support

webcam with microphone (integrated)

What I am looking in a laptop:

fast processing speed for high speed internet downloads and ability to multi task different programs at the same time without slow down. decent size hardrive and something that wont bhe outdated anytime soon.

Now let me have it is it a good built? or it could be better or am i getting ripped off??

Spend 2 hrs reading posts and reviews....and get a sense of things. I think HP's quality was suspect about 5 years ago, but I think it's improved. That's certainly a great price. The only *issue* I see is it appears to be a "shared graphics" system rather than a separate, standalone graphics capability. If you want to do some gaming--like Diablo3--the laptop may not run it well...:dunno:

That will more than get you there IMO. Although you are paying for extra goodies that are not as necessary to what you want to do and the price point reflects that but you are getting what you're paying for with that machine.

Wel I pretty much gave up playing games on a laptop, but thanks for that site pretty good!

I know but I want something that doesn't get old that quick even though those extra goodies today, tomorrow they might be stuff that is included, lol.

So far this is how I see it:

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) - I am not impressed with vista 32 bit on my last laptop and how it took 90% of it's 1 gb.

320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection I am taking that as the speed it records data
Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD- I can always get a higher graphics card right? does this share the 4gb along with that 64-bit vista?


Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth- i does says that N mini card is backward compatible with wireless g, but i see bluetooth as the next big thing

the 7200rpm is fine (standard) gives a indication on how fast things will install on your pc

i don't think you can chnge your graphics card on your laptop tbh

download speed is to to with your broadband and not hard drive

will post if i see a better laptop

the 4gb of ram is plenty, so don't worry about it.

Regardless of what you end up buying...a solid warranty from a reputable company is crucial. Especially with laptops

Unless you absolutely have to have a laptop, buy a desktop. It will last longer and most desktops have more memory than laptop.

mid $950.00 and below, only new when it comes with laptops. I love the mobility of a laptop.

That's a pretty nice build that'll probably last you as long as you need, and realistically won't need to be upgraded for another couple of years.

Seems OK but if speed of download is a major factor then spending money on a better internet connection may reap rewards.
