Hope he wins, so we can actually have a steroid-free winner again.

To be honest, I have lost respect for this guy over the years. Not because of the steroids scandal but how he has acted in the media. I read his auto-biography book back in 2004 and was amazed by the tribulations he went through. But then after he won the tour, he got divorced, banged Sheryl Crow, and just became a media whore all over TMZ and tabloids.

Looks like I'll be seeing more people with Livestrong wristbands

I wish him no ill will. And this thread seems like a solid idea.
But I personally don't really care what he does. When the Tour rolls around I'll care a bit. And when it's over I'll go back to not really caring again.
The cancer awareness thing is good. But who the heck isn't aware of cancer?
Don't like to sound negative. But this is just how I feel. I'm kinda sick of Lance Armstrong.

Well, I think that to come out of retirement like that one has to have a lot of balls. Oh, wait, I forgot he only has one... :D

Tour de France is a tough race of more than 2200 miles over three weeks on a very tough course, an average of 120 miles a day. As a serious cyclist, I wish Lance all the best whenever I pass him on local roads! :)

I've always thought the same thing. I mean, it's not a bad thing to "raise awareness" for something, but seriously...who in the FUCK doesn't know what cancer is or that it can kill you?

Every single person knows someone that has cancer, so every single person (excluding children and mentally retarded people) already knows what cancer is.

Raising awareness for shit like this is so pointless.

Speaking of informing the public about thing they don't know about, I heard about this shit called AIDS the other day. We should probably tell people about it before it gets out of hand.

It's a physically dehabiliting disease, and here is someone who has beaten the odds and become the all time world's best in a very serious physical endurance sport

I see the logic to this. :dunno:

I'm not insulting what he has done and what he will still do. I think that overcoming cancer is a huge deal. My family is good at getting cancer so I've seen what it can do to someone.

I'm just saying that the world is already well aware of cancer and the impact it can have on a life. I'm just kind of tired of having it shoved in my face day in and day out. Every time I turn on the TV or open a newspaper, "cancer awareness" ads are all over the place.

Cancer is a terrible thing and I'm not saying that it isn't. I just don't want to hear about it all the time. I know what it is, I know what it does, I don't need some celebrity to constantly remind me that cancer exists.

Just like the "starving children in Africa" campaign, for example, it gets old.

^^Agreed.
My parent who died of it and my sibling who had it were/are well aware of it. As are billions of others.
It doesn't need more awareness. It needs more money and research.
If he's so worried about it, why doesn't Lance donate every dime he makes (including sponsorship) from next year's Tour to cancer research? He can afford it.
Then I'll REALLY pull for him.

Big fucking deal...

I can admire his accomplishments, but this news seems like it's being treated like it's really important. Hugo Chavez has Russian ships and planes coming to Venezuela to do a joint military exercise. People are dying all around the world. Sorry, I can't get too whipped up about a guy who rides a bike really fast in France.

Well, tommorrow is 9/11. Think of how the families of that feel having to watch it all the time because someone else feels patriotic.

Same with who cares, about actor X, Y or Z and his or her new movie, or Brittney, or Angelina Jolie, or whoever ..........

Tour de France can be interesting to watch. A guy shot right off a cliff this year. He was okay after sliding on his butt for a while, but the bike kept going.

I just want to say that I said I agreed with this post. And I do except for the last line, which I strongly disagree with.
Sorry, guess I didn't read that part; my mistake.
