Call me crazy, but in order to be called 'giant' anything, you should be bigger than 26 feet. Giant compared to other squid, yes. Megalodon was a giant shark. This is just a pretty big squid, IMO.

Yeah, giant squid are the ones that you see wrestling whales in old paintings, 26 ft is kind of a chump.

While I understand the sentiment behind what you are saying, I'm pretty sure if I were swimming along, and I saw one of these, I'd say, "Damnation, that's a giant fucking squid."
