As part of the Martin Luther King day celebration the naacp has organized what is being called "King day at the dome" to protest the flying of the confederate flag over the state house in South Carolina. The three leading dems running for president will be there to speak,is anyone suprised no republicans will also be there.Even John McCain who said after he was defeated in 2000 by GWB in the SC primary he regretted not saying the flag should be removed is now being silent on the issue obviously in order not to offend the white pub base.
Is there any question this flag is racist symbol harkening back to the slave owning past of the south. And for those who may not know this flag was only revived and put back as a state symbol in several states in the 50s as a way for southern states to protest the civil rights movement. Most have removed it but not SC.Is it not time for them to do the same?
