KC police fire at backfiring van

This one takes the cake...or doughnut?

Seriously, two cops mistake the backfire of a vehicle for gunfire? These are "trained" officers I assume? Can you imagine what would happen if you mistook a vehicle backfire as gunfire and then proceeded to "return" fire at said vehicle? Where do they find these morons? Who trains them? I feel sorry for folks living in KC with temperamental vehicles who have to drive by a Krispy Kreme every now and then.

Two Kansas City police officers who thought they were being shot at from inside a van returned fire Thursday night.

Only later did police realize that the van was actually backfiring and the man inside was not armed. He was not injured by the shots fired by police.

Since they were law enforcement officers I'm sure there will be many people out there that will either try to justify what they did, blame somebody else, find excuses for them, or another unreasonable thing in their defense like usually happens even though they are supposed to be even more responsible and held to an even higher standard than regular people.

Kind of makes you wonder what they would do if there really was someone firing at them with an actual gun. If this was what they did when there was no assailant or gun in sight. My fuck, where do they get these Goombas from?. The Keystone Cop precinct.

If the owners of the white van are Mexican, then most likely they would go to a local garage in the Spanish neighborhood where you can find plenty of cheap Mexican mechanics to service this van. Therefore I would firmly place the blame on the Mexicans and absolve the KCMO police.

Case closed. :hatsoff:

This is what you get as a side-effect of low military training standards when soldiers go from the military to the police.
