Jon Stewart is the only American who comes out on television and tells the truth.

Farce "News" at it again. How any reasonable person can rely on the misfits at this create news outfit for anything more than self-assuring entertainment is one of the universe's greatest mysteries.

It amazes me that Democrats or Republicans either one has the audacity to accuse the other of lying. Both are nothing but a bunch of lying sacks of shit.

I agree, but his former colleague bothers me every bit as much :1orglaugh :hatsoff:

For every republican party lie there is a democratic party lie to match it, it's so boring.

Is that how it works? Is it like some sort of cosmic balance? It's a perfect 1:1 ratio?

Also, are the lies of equal consequence, of equal importance?

Is this theory - that lies match in number (and perhaps in significance) between the parties - behind the notion that the Truth behind any controversial issue can be found exactly in the middle between the extremes of opinion? I'm asking.

Beck should sue! Right after he gets out of the sanitarium.

Editing in the 300 scene .... brilliant!

Although on this entire story, could you have expected anything less? I mean come on it's FOX :D

I should make a gossip station. I think my ratings would be insane. Blueballs would be one of the talkers we use daily. The ratings would be so high I'd probably get high.

That's hilarious.

What a fuckin joke Fox News is :1orglaugh

Jon Stewart kicks ass

Yeah, when a so called news outlet not only organizes rallies, but then manufactures footage for subsequent rallies, that's about as bad as it gets. It's not their views that bother me so much - they're just the opposite of MSNBC in that way. But by doing what they did in that story, Fox has now truly earned its moniker of Faux Noise.

But like someone already said, Fox seems to believe its mission is to provide an echo chamber for those who believe as they do, not to provide actual news.

If anyone is seriously sick of biased news, maybe you should start listening to public radio/public broadcasting. They are the only true balanced stations that I hear or see anymore. I get a majority of my hard news from web sites and newspapers, but turn to NPR for balanced analysis and discussion. Plus, the people calling in are pleasant and ask intelligent thought-provoking questions. Rarely does anyone yell above another on the show and though discussions may get a little heated, they never get out of control.

Perhaps this is why a lot of people don't listen to it though. I mean there's no entertainment factor to it. There's no shock and awe except for when someone sticks their foot in their mouth by saying something they realized they shouldn't. Like when a high-ranking clergyman said he was coming around to the idea of supporting gay marriage and accepting them into church openly. But then again, you would've had to have known that it was a controversial statement to begin with in order to know what just happened. Which means you'd have to KNOW something about the news rather than being spoon fed.

Journalism today is in a bad way. We're almost reverting back to pre-1940s yellow journalism tactics. Who has the more sensational story wins. Never mind the facts.

Personally, I watch the Daily Show. I'll flip on Fox News. Sometimes I'll even listen to Wolf Blitzer for a bit, but I have to realize the entire time that I'm mostly being entertained by the news station, not learning 100% facts.

Stewart is a hack.
How clear the obvious is ...you are so right! And John even agrees with you!

Stewart has said more than once he moves the pieces around for fun, when it comes to news...he's a comedy show, not a newscaster.
Beck and Hannity claim to be no more than "they are what they are", all the fools here who keep going on about "truth" and "news" are so silly as to defy description. News casts are "breaking" news, so to speak...not the same as opinion shows.
Stewart is a satirist, a comedian, a cynical commentator...who is so stupid as to get any NEWS from him? ...oh, sorry, there...I hope I didn't hurt your feelings!

I realize I am speaking to a mixed bag of high schoolers and adults...some are even grown-ups as well. But ANYONE who can't tell the difference between NEWS and information/facts/opinion is a mile short and a few decades away from the real world.
Ya'll can go to another thread for your entertainment, nothing for you in talk!:D

The importance of truths / untruths is a separate debate that has to do with our individual values, what might seem like a serious offense to a democrat might seem moot to a republican and vice versa.
In the end, it's all about CYA, finger pointing, broad brushing and spreading a particular political ideology / imperative e.g. all things must be equal... he's the bad guy because he's a greedy capitalist neocon christian pig & I'm a democrat, pure as the freshly fallen snow, I do good, I mean well, I'm well intentioned , everybody deserves a 700 sq' ft. living quarters and $35 grand annual for "free", there should only be one news source specific to my liking and only then would everybody live happily ever after all things were made equal via the strong fist of government ! :D

I'm quite content co existing in a multiple level diverse society - different races of people, different cars, different political ideologies, different income brackets, different religious orientations :uohs: ... or not ! :1orglaugh, viewing different women in different skirts with different short cut tops in a variety of heel heights :rubbel:

Celebrate Diversity ! :lovecoupl

So you're saying that what was presented in Stewart's piece about Fox using old/stock footage was untrue... nonfactual? Or are you saying that because Stewart is basically just an entertainer, anything that he says should be dismissed? I'm  about the criticism here.

For instance, even though one might see Rush Limbaugh as a gas bag or a hack too, if he says something factual, ones personal opinion of him should be beside the point, yes?

But ANYONE who can't tell the difference between NEWS and information/facts/opinion is a mile short and a few decades away from the real world.

I think (I hope) you meant to use a word other than "news" right there, but I'll let you explain what you meant, if not. "Entertainment", maybe??? If the news is not fact based, we really do have a problem... and increasingly, I think we do.

Jon Stewart doesn't hold himself out as a deliverer of news.

I still don't see how some can't understand the distinction between those who point out hypocrisy and lies from those who concoct hypocrisy and lies.
